Hart Park is my favorite retreat, my home away from home. It is only minutes - yet a world away - from town. There is a lake in the middle, with an island, and the river runs past the park. There are so many birds, both water birds, including ducks, geese, herons, egrets, cormorants and coots, and non-water birds, including peacocks, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, a flock of parakeets, and a host of others that I don't know the names of. There is a guy circling the island on a paddle board this morning. Once I saw a beaver, I think - all I could see was its eyes and brown forehead above the water as it swam by in the early morning. That was one sighting in 40-plus years of coming out here. There are tree squirrels, ground squirrels, raccoons, skunks - which you might be surprised to see, as I was, emerging from holes in the ground, and cats. Lots of cats, which are fed daily by the Cat People. Once I saw a coyote, which was tailing me and my very large dog until I pointed my walking stick at it and told it to leave us. The only unnatural sounds that mar the peace out here are occasional cars that drive through, especially on weekends, with their music blasting, and gunshots from the shooting range. Why they have a shooting range in a park I don't know, but I hate it. My current dog won't even get out of the car, stays hunkered down on the floor because that sound scares her so badly, so I don't bring her out here anymore. It can get really busy on holidays and weekends, so I don't usually come out here then, but early weekday mornings are the best, the closer to sunrise the better. It is so beautiful and peaceful.

I absolutely love this park! It has a river and a pond with ducks. There is a little play area for kids. This park has everything you can ask for in one place.

It is so beautiful out here. The first time I came with my husband's family they had a barbecue. I had no idea it was going to be so much fun. This place is so different to other lakes or parks I have been too.

I love it because there is free parking AND you get to park right next to your picnic area. They have tables and they have a lot of trees for shade.

You have to walk down to go to the river, but it is just a little bit. It isn't bad at all. Once you are at the bottom you can go swim. There are shallow and deep parts.

There are some spots were you can have your picnic right next to the water which is so nice. I loved the second time even more because we did this.

We took down some chairs and some food. My cousin-in-law would just put her feet in the water while she would eat. I would sit on the shallow part to play with me baby.

The water wasn't cold at all! It wasn't hot either. It was perfect! I have never been to a place where the water was just right. That's why I put my baby inside and he loved it. The water is clear and you can see what's inside.

There are a lot of tadpoles, but to be honest I couldn't feel them. I just saw them when I entered the water but not when I was swimming.

There are really bad spots were there are a lot of rocks and you can't walk around because it is comfortable. There are other spots were there are rocks but just a few. You can walk and feel the sand. You just see the rocks on the side.

I recommend you bring water shoes if you come here. The first time I came I didn't take off my shoes because I couldn't walking inside the water without hurting myself.

This is such an amazing place to come with your family and friends. It is so calming and relaxing. You see all the nature around you that is breathtaking.

I love this park because it is very clean too! They tie up bags on the trees so people can put throw their trash inside so they won't leave it thrown everywhere.

They will also open a small snack shack soon! It is a small little trailer that has a sign up that says coming soon. That will make this place even better.

I almost forgot. They also have ropes tied on trees next to the river. Most people hang on it and throw themselves inside. It looks like a lot of fun, but I didn't want...

Hart park is great! We go every other week and most of the time with our dogs and all that we have had. Hikes and trails are awesome for example through mountains which.may take a while and also with bike trails which makes family an I enjoy. Our dogs love it there and sometimes enjoy chasing squirles which come out very often now, skunks and cats. It's and amazing place to do a family and friend(s) BBQ and enjoy fresh air. Getting in the river is also great, my dogs love to cool off in it and so do we humans. We go very often and has been the only park we have gone to for over 5 years and is such a great place to go wherever you want free time but will get crowded during the weekend and summer. I have nothing negative to say other than peie tend to litter diapers, cans food and in general trash. Hart park is a very friendly area, and are even kind wnought to feed the stray cats which I find kind. What was an odd experience just a few days was a horse on the other side of the river we encountered. We don't know whether it was real and dead but we believe it was most likely a prob that fell off the cliff because the legs were so straight and there weren't any flies, at least from what I saw. We even found berries which we believe we're raberries or blackberries! But I don't really trust the so much. Anyways it's great besides people not cleaning up after themselves...
