I have been to this Casino several times, and other than losing money, all has been well. However, on Saturday October 7th, 2017, my wife and I boarded the "spare" ferry boat across the lake to the Casino. Apparently, the main boat was under repair. We go to the Casino around 10:30 pm, gambled until 1:30 am, and at the point we were ready to head back. An announcement came over the speaker saying that the "spare" boat was having issues and would hopefully be back on track for the 2:30 am pick up. Annoying, but things happen. Anyway, 2:30 am rolls around and sure enough the boat is out of commission. The Casino Manager tells what must be around 40 to 50 guests that the only way home is a 6 person mini van, and one other shuttle van that sits 8 to 10. Here's the problem, it's an hour and a half trip from the casino, around the lake, and back to the drop off point, then the vans have to drive another hour and a half back to the casino to pick up the next load. If you do the math, you could likely be stuck there until 9:00 am or later. They are obviously going to take the elderly and woman and so on first, but this is a real catastrophe. You would hope they would have a bus at the resort for a situation like this, but nope. While several of the very hostile and drunk guests are yelling about compensation, I am only thinking about a bed. I ask the manager if there is a motel / hotel near the resort, nope. So basically, when the boats are down, you're screwed. I begin calling every shuttle, taxi service, and Uber trying to get out of here. I finally got someone on the phone at 2:45 am who was willing to come get us, at a price of $140.00. The situation is dark, but at least I found some light. Now, it is understandable that boats break down, but to have zero contingency plan for this is just boneheaded. A simple flea bag motel could have resolved the problem. Here's the worst part though, as we are sitting outside waiting for the shuttle, we see a man sneak 7 or 8 employees of the Casino out the back, down to the docks, and on to a privately owned pontoon boat, and sail them away. We are standing there in shock. People start yelling and cussing and I thought there might be a riot. It is one thing to have boat trouble with no plan that strands all of your guests, but to have a plan, and it was an obvious plan, to sneak several employees out of there and leave the rest of us to fend for ourselves is borderline criminal. In a situation like this, the staff should be the last to leave. We are the guests, we spend a lot of money there, and we are their responsibility to get back home when we utilize the Casino Ferry. Disaster happens sometimes, but that pontoon boat could have rescued the situation. That boat could hold 10 to 12 people that could be sailed across the lake, return, pick up another batch, and continue. Within 2 hours we all could have been home. I realize that the pontoon boat may have been privately owned, but for a manager to allow her staff to leave in a backdoor manner like that is pathetic. There was a man at the resort who needed his insulin shot, and instead of getting a quick ride on that pontoon boat, he was shuttled an hour and a half around the lake. This is beyond despicable. If I am the manager of that Casino in that situation, I tell my staff to get comfortable, because your'e not leaving until the guests do. Close your eyes and imagine how you would feel and what you would do or say when you see these employees sneak out of there and jump on that boat, while the manager takes almost an hour to invite the guests back inside the casino to warm up. Did I not mention it was pretty chilly that night? Be warned. 9.9 out of 10 times this won't happen, but the time it happens to you, well, I told you so. Stay away. There's the Bluewater in Parker, and several more options in Laughlin that take the same amount of time to get to as the hour and a half trip around the...
Read moreIt was a lovely location, next to the lake with direct access to it. Resort is conveniently adjacent to the London Bridge and the local vendors on the lake level. Beautifully decorated outside along parts of the walkway, and the London Bridge was colorfully lit with synchronized holiday music.
One drawback, local vendors close as a local practice about 6pm even in the winter months due to hot weather temperatures during the summers.
Resort told us it is less busy during the winter months. Less tourists and people in general which was fine with us.
Kitchen was compact and workable. It had an odd set of inexpensive looking flatware, large frying with no lid, knives in block all inefficient, had a missing scissor (asked for one mid-week). One knife handle came apart after second day, no plastic non-stick cooking tool for non-stick pan (mentioned it at front desk, and they delivered one).
I asked for dishcloth from clean up person, but the response was a sponge is for washing dishes. I needed it to wipe table and counter. She offered me an old rag and I used it the entire week.
Bedrooms are small. Master bedroom houses one TV and dresser with enough room to walk around the bed. Not enough clothes hanger in my opinion. About 10.
It had a "shared" bathroom with the guest bedroom. Guest bedroom only had a bed and side night stands (no windows). Do not recall seeing a dresser. No TV. Door opened to kitchen. Both bedrooms had ceiling fans.
A separate bathroom was across the kitchen with a shower, whereas the shared bathroom had a tub. You can hear above floor taking a shower or bath.
Living room was part of the dining area and kitchen, common among timeshares.
One item. I wanted fresh air versus using the air conditioner (blows directly at your head from ceiling) by opening up the windows in the master bedroom. Each night someone smoked marijuana. Came into bedroom. Finally after day two, I spoke to the front desk. Yes it is legal in Arizona but not in resort. They said they would check. Days following, I'd call to let them know but daily it came into our rooms (living room too).
Also our room was the last room at the end of the structure, 2nd floor. With the window open, the traffic, vehicles driving pas are loud and noisy at times with the window open. Once a vehicle parked under our room and voices was heard, loudly after 1130pm. Eventually they left. Thank goodness...
Our stay was Dec 2-9, Saturday to Saturday, we decided to leave Friday. For reasons mentioned above, and another...
The drive home is about minimum of 10 hours with no stops. We took off Friday to spent Friday night at a hotel about halfway home, and continued home on Saturday.
We really enjoyed our hiking two consecutive days at the "Crack in the Mountain Trail" at S.A.R.A Park. Visited Parker Dam. Enjoyed the ferry to the casino. And a walk across the London Bridge to the island to scroll on a walking path (but was under renovation). Weather was surprisingly pleasant, mostly high 60"s, even hit low 70's a few days.
Result of our very first visit to Arizona, Lake Havasu City...nice.
Would we visit...
Read moreMy 1st visit to Havasu Landing Casino in April 2018 was a big disappointment for me and others that were visiting it for their 1st time, too. It was not what I expected at all... from all the hype from some of the people I know, that go there. It & it's smoke shop is very small. When u walk in the front door, the casino area is so crammed full of gaming machines, if u aren't paying attention you'll walk right into 1 the second you enter! Like I did! The casino staff & bartender were nice, friendly & helpful but...
**Warning to the ladies/women going there without a man - WATCH OUT for 1 of the young [approx. 20 something year old, brunette, I think he's white] male security guards!! He's too friendly & talks VERY sexual. Seriously, EVERYTHING that I [a 50+ yr old woman] said to my [70 yr old lady] friend I was sitting at the bar in the lounge with [while we were waiting for the ferry to back across the lake] & to that young security guard... He replied with a sexual comment & even tried stroking my shoulder!! The young man, who just suddenly thought we needed company, was "trying to flatter" us as "he was hitting on us" with his nasty sexual comments! He was pretty graphic! He made me feel VERY uncomfortable as he stood there leaning over bar stool my purse was on & leaning against the bar stool I was sitting! He even reached for my drink at one point! The bartender heard the security guard's talk and didn't say a word to him nor did he get on the phone to call his supervisor. I would of complained but, the ferry to go back across the lake showed up & my friend wanted to leave... right away! I WILL NOT go back there!... because of that rude & vulgar young male security guard and his clearly evident & COMPLETELY WRONG attitude that "we" were a couple of "sugar mommas" in need of sex. I just hope his employer isn't ok with this kind of behavior from...
