This trail actually goes in to Joshua Tree National Park, as evidenced by the small National Parks Service sign along the trail. Payment is not required to use this trail, so you can see some Joshua Trees and save some money. The trail is great, with beautiful panoramic views of the mountains and lots of nice trees and scenery. There is a podium at the top of a peak that has a sort of guestbook you can sign, but unfortunately people think it's funny to draw inappropriate things like in elementary school. Otherwise though it's an awesome trail and well worth it. Reception and GPS directions work fine, it will take up you towards a campground. Don't be deterred by the signs to register for camping, that isn't necessary if you are just hiking. Just follow the road the GPS tells you to the trail.

First off, this a great hike. The trail is beautiful and and not too steep. I believe the loop is around 1.3 miles. The views are great as well, you can see the whole valley. The road on the way goes up into the hills for a few miles so that’s why the hike is easy and the views are vast. For other readers, don’t worry about the GPS, it’s dead on accurate. There is a quarter mile dirt road however, but my Honda Accord made it with ease, no huge rocks or anything. One more note for people with dogs, there are no dogs allowed so make sure it’s cool enough you can leave them in the car or leave them somewhere else.

This nature trail is on the border of the Black Rock campground. There's a short dirt road past the horse camp and fire station that takes you to the trailhead, a w.5 mile loop through Joshua trees, juniper, Mojave yucca, etc. A great place to spot wildlife, especially birds. It is also great for catching the sunrise moonrise.

Relatively short and easy hike that offers some great views, and is not too congested with other hikers. Finding the trail head was slightly challenging as we missed the dirt road entrance right before entering the nearby campground. If you have an hour and want to avoid crowds, would recommend checking this out.

Really nice and well-maintained trail. There are markers and benches throughout the trail. I'm not a regular hiker and I was able to do it. There is a small dirt parking lot at the trail head. You have to go down a short dirt road to get to it, but I have a small car and got there without any problem.

What an incredible experience! This is an easy to moderate trail with a decent grade. It is a short hike at only 1.3 miles. Make sure that you wear shoes with decent grip as the sand can get slippery. The views from the top are astounding!
