I unfortunately cannot recommend La Mesa Vineyards to anyone.

We have memberships at Alpha Omega and Mumm, among others, over in Napa that feature $45 to $75 tastings, and we certainly weren't expecting Napa-quality wine here, but the wine at La Mesa was not only some of the worst we have ever tasted, but their tasting fee was three times that of other wineries in the area that offer superior wine, such as Amador Cellars, where we had earlier enjoyed a wonderful flight of many delicious wines on a property that looks like it was taken right out of Tuscany, at only $5 per person.

The sommelier at La Mesa was courteous, but the wine was candidly worse than some of the box wines found in rural pubs that specialize in beer and spirits and keep only one wine on the shelf, and what was supposed to be an enjoyable birthday tasting turned instead into a headache, which I do not tend to get from other wines.

A decent vineyard, seeing that we didn’t like any of the wine offered would have comped us, at least partially, for what really was a awful tasting experience, and encouraged us to try them again next season when they improved their offerings, but we see no reason to ever try this vineyard again.

We'll just stick with the superior wines of Mumm Napa and Alpha Omega and, when in Plymouth, visit only Amador Cellars, which offers delicious wine in the region on a beautiful property, at only...

We have been to the Amador Plymouth area multiple times and typically stay a bit more inward.

The day we went, may 3rd, to the area we decided to try a new place and I literally typed in wineries near me on Yelp and La Mesa vineyards popped up.

We were all glad that this was the main suggestion that popped up because we had such a wonderful time at the tasting room. The space itself is very clean and modern, and it has a beautiful view of the hills around the area. The outdoor seating area right in front of the tasting room is a wonderful space to take advantage of if you are going to be in the area during the warmer times of the year.

We tasted their general menu that day when it came to the flights. Everyone had their own favorites. The call-outs for us would be the rose and the primitivo.

Those two we really liked and bought two bottles of each.

We did not get to try the food there but everything that was coming out looked super delicious. The one thing that caught her eye that a lot of people were ordering was the whipped feta. So that is definitely something we want to try next time when we go back.

So if you're in the area please drive a little further out over the hill to find this wonderful...

We came to La Mesa hoping for a great experience and it was wonderful, we just had to say so!

The environment the Owners created is top shelf! The layout of the property is beautiful! The tasting room is filled with spaciousness, aesthetics, comfortable seating, and super clean! The views are perfect for a full relaxing wine tasting experience.

We took home 9 bottles! Their Barbera is excellent with all the red meat meals, and a dash in any marinade, they almost could sell it as marinade! The Primito Rosé 2018 is so smooth and doesn't burn like some wines can. Great for sensitive stomachs like mine! The Chardonnay's, are also extremely light, dry and full of flavor! Each sample was delightful! I don't know of a single place we have done tasting where I liked them all. (We live in Sonoma County)

La Mesa ships and delivers so it is easy to order and send to friends and family all over the country! We have already placed our second order!

The owners and crew are very mindful of Covid Safety practices which makes this a rewarding outing for a weekend to help during these cooped up times!

Five...

My honey my daughter and myself attended a wine event at La Mesa Vineyards lead by ComĂ©. Not only did we get to taste some of his new releases for 2025, we also tried other future wines that are currently aging. The event was full of insight and we all learned so much about the process as well as his vineyard and what it entails. We preordered some of Christine’s fabulous Gyros for after the event that they have on the menu for this month along with one of our favorites appetizers which is the whipped feta w crackers “so yummy”. We had a great experience and we can’t wait to do it again. Thank you to ComĂš and his great staff for making us feel welcome. **We each took home a souvenir . I took the Sauvignon Blanc and my honey took a bottle of the Cabernet! But are delicious!

Wow—what an unforgettable experience at La Mesa! We were visiting from Denver, and our friends treated us to this hidden gem for the afternoon. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking views, mouthwatering food, and absolutely incredible wine! Lanelle made the day even more special—she was a delight to chat with and truly a wine expert. Thanks to her, we discovered some new favorites and ended up buying six bottles (which she made super easy to ship back home to Denver!). Our wine just arrived, and we’re already planning when to open the first bottle. If you’re anywhere near La Mesa, this place is a must-visit—we’re already counting down the days until we can come back!
