Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park — Attraction in Pleasanton

Love this entrance location ,with ample parking ,beautiful views, public restrooms (though none flushable toilets or running water ,still very clean and convenient) drinking fountain and faucet at main trail entrance. Plentiful trail options with two entrances from parking taking you up and along the Pleasanton ridge for walks ,hikes ,biking and horseback riding depending on your preference. Trails consists of large open fire roads down to small single track trails that are also clean fairly well maintained. Great place for long hikes or runs with over 10 miles of main trails (now more with additions on north end ) miles of smaller trails and options of taking inner or outer trails across ridge giving you choices when it comes to views ,elevation gains ,difficulty levels and places you wish to go if you chose to hike through instead of around the park. I hiked to Sunol Peak from Tyler Ranch Staging Area via Sunol Ridge Trail. Been going here for 9 years now, at least once a week. Can get busy on the weekends and totally quiet on the weekdays. It is a huge park that has a creek and a waterfall during the rainy seasons. For the most part it is wide open and exposed but if you go over the ridge and down to the canyon, trees galore and solitude but be prepared to climb back up, again. Nice and green during the rainy season and pretty much golden during the summer. Use the outhouses prior to your hike or bike because you will only have bushes and trees for your convenience.
