Coming in by way of Black Canyon Road in Simi Valley or Woolsey Canyon Road in West Hills, these two roads join in what apparently is Brandeis, Ca. There is a natural and slightly upgraded loop trail in which the sandstone formations and lush vegetation can be viewed. Parking below is free. The upper parking lot is $5.00. Rock formations show a lot of upward thrust and there are views of the Santa Monica Mountains and the Santa Susana Mountains, as well. A pair of hiking boots is suggested but not mandatory. Bring one or two bottles of water for the entire loop. A Ranger is in charge of the park and area. Also borders on Boeng facility that is off limits. Evidence of the Supersite Clean up and measurement can be seen half-way around the trail. Populace areas observed are in Ventura County although just to the East of the location, a road taken about a half mile will give spectacular views of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County. Under some conditions, views of the Pacific Ocean may be seen from certain...

I have been hiking here for the last 20y. Great to go back today and see the grass already 6 inches tall and some of the flowering plants starting to grow as well. All damp after the recent rains, but the trail is dry and easy to walk upon. The loop took about 80 min walking slowly. Groves of oak trees, fields of shrubs, old citrus and avocado orchard remnants, hay rake and disk harrow to start with, then through a smooth trail with rock formations on both sides. Lots of short side trails to explore. Then the detour which takes you through the center of the park to the campground and then back to the upper parking lot. Deer tracks throughout and hawks in the sky.
The lower parking lot is free and never full, the upper lot costs $5. Both have a toilet. The campground also has a toilet. Lots of picnic tables scatter around at the start of the loop and at the campground. I have never seen...

There is one big loop trail, but many side trails and offshoots that take you to many interesting rock formations and overlooks. There are many varied flora and fauna, including deer, bobcats, and an occasional mountain lion. Parking in the lower lot is free, with a pay ($5) lot up the...
