My wife and I recently spent 15 unforgettable days at Tapo Canyon Regional Park in our fifth wheel, and it was an experience we’ll cherish forever.
Arrival and Setup: From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the well-maintained grounds and the ease of navigating our fifth wheel into our spacious campsite. The park staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the check-in process smooth and efficient.
Natural Beauty and Serenity: Tapo Canyon Regional Park is a gem nestled in nature’s lap. The lush greenery, rolling hills, and serene ambiance provided a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Activities and Exploration: While the park itself does not have direct access to trails, we found plenty of opportunities for adventure nearby. We drove to several fantastic hiking spots in the area, each offering stunning vistas and a chance to immerse ourselves in nature. Additionally, there’s a large dog park just a 10-minute drive away, which was perfect for giving our furry friend some exercise and fun.
Wildlife and Nature Watching: June was a fantastic time to visit, as we had numerous opportunities to observe local wildlife. A family of peacocks visited us every day, adding a touch of elegance to our stay. We also saw many cottontail rabbits and even some beautiful snakes. These encounters made our experience even more memorable and exciting.
Connectivity: One thing to note is that there is no mobile signal at all in the park by any operator. This contributes to the park being less crowded, which we appreciated for the tranquility it offered. However, if you need connectivity, as I did for work, only Starlink works here. It was a reliable solution that kept us connected...
Read moreThis is our second time at this park. It's very green, the restrooms are clean and there's a playground for the kiddos. Sites are roomy, somewhat level and we were able to have a wood fire. Rangers come through on a regular basis. Of note: there is no cell reception or wi-fi at this park. We had 4 older grandkids come visit and, after the initial shock, they found plenty of nearby places to explore.
The pedestals for hook-up are getting worn. We have a 30 amp TT and after several tries our surge protector showed a ground fault on the 30 hook-up. Thankfully we had a 50 to 30 amp dogbone and were able to use that outlet in the pedestal with no issues for the stay. I would recommend having up/down doggone when you travel anyway.
Finally, I would like to thank the camp host Sean (Shawn?). He was friendly and would regularly walk the park (which was full) throughout the day to see if we and the other guests were...
Read moreI camped with a 33-foot RV in this park for a week with my husband and dog while visiting the Los Angeles area. Finding affordable campgrounds in this region is tough! So we endured long drives to L.A., Hollywood, and Santa Monica for a reasonable home base. The rates here are good, and the camp host is very nice and accommodating. The campground and park are both very small with few amenities, but it is quiet and peaceful in a wooded area. The internet/cell phone reception was bad for both Verizon and AT&T, which is a problem if you work remotely. Also no TV antenna reception. All breeds of dogs are welcome here, which is nice. No trails nearby for running or biking, just the road that leads into the campground, which has a steady flow of trucks. Check out the archery on Saturday mornings from 9a-1p - very fun and super beginner-friendly...
