I have been going to this park for around 18 yrs...I love it! There is a real dog park just past Gateway that you can walk a back trail from one to the other and it's a wonderful little walk with the dogs. We were there just yesterday, beating the late day 94* heat by wading in the creek... the kids enjoyed the other side of the road where swimming is easier ad its deeper. The playground is great, albeit hot sitting out in the sun... and being able to BBQ, play horse shoes, enjoy a baseball game, play on the playground area, play some disk golf, or just walk the creek or the trail.... there is something for everyone!! Not to mention the farmers markets and the big stage! I love living in Nevada County and Gateway Park epitomizes why!

Ideal for a small hike, day getaway for the family or a quick swim. They have disc golf, bocce ball, clean restrooms, live outdoors concerts, grills, 3 playgrounds for kiddos, gated dog park, basketball courts, exercise areas and so much more. Be prepared to enjoy nature. We like to go eat at he pizza place right next to ti after. It’s a must, again and again

Lots of fun for everyone...my grandkids like the water and I like riding my bike. Picnic tables are available and you can rent one of the halls for special events, i.e. I attended a memorial service for a friend there and we had a whole section by the water to ourselves. There were tables and BBQ if we wanted to use... Groundskeepers do a really nice job keeping the grass and play areas litter free. There is a growers market and I have seen many community events held there... There are Basketball courts and they used to have tennis courts though I don't recall seeing tennis netting recently so not sure whether this is currently available...doggie park, and lots for kiddo's i.e. playground, slides, swings etc. All kept very nice. There is a nice pavilion for Musial events... All told a nice park for all kinds of events and all...

We love this park. I can easily be here all day. Between the trails and paths, play grounds, disc golf course, dog park, two stages,AND THE RIVER!!! I mean what more could you ask for.

There's lots of covered space for events, benches to relax, there's bochi ball courts, basketball courts, I believe there's even a community room to rent.

There's a top and bottom playground tho currently it's closed off due to river damage but you can still get down there...

The only "con" is the bathroom are in the main parking lot or dog park and hardly any of the water fountains work! But, if you're open to making it work, the parks worth it!

Did I mention they have tennis courts and baseball fields???

During the summer there are concerts etc... definitely an all around all year lo g fun place to be.

Maybe I'll...

Couple different pretty nice play areas for the kids. Large grassy areas with tables and BBQ'S for outdoor parties and celebrations. People let their kids play in the creek water but I absolutely would NOT recommend that!! Disc golf course is well maintained and has some nice holes. Stop by in December for the annual "Lights in the Park" holiday event. Its fun for the whole family. Drive through the park and look at Christmas lights as businesses compete for best in class and in show. Restrooms available on site and they are usually decent. Large stage and bandstand for outdoor events. Easy access off highway 20. Lots of local amenities in Penn Valley including several unique eateries. Check out Ceasars Quick Lunch taco truck for a...
