We had the pleasure of visiting Pride Mountain Vineyards recently, and out of all the tours we experienced in the Napa Valley, this one stood out as our absolute favorite. The informative nature of the tour truly made it an exceptional experience. Their vineyards are in both in Sonoma and Napa.
From the moment we arrived, Jay Herbert , our guide at Pride Winery took the time to explain every step of the winemaking process with passion and expertise. He emphasized the significance of the soil and how different soil types can influence the flavors and characteristics of the grapes and what type of wines are for each soil. It was also fascinating to witness firsthand how the grapes were delicately separated from the stems.
One of the highlights of the tour was our visit to the caves. The sheer magnitude and beauty of the underground cellars left a lasting impression. It was truly impressive to see the barrels of aging wine lining the walls, creating an enchanting ambiance.
Of course, no winery visit would be complete without the opportunity to sample their wines. Pride Winery did not disappoint. The tasting showcased a range of their offerings, and each wine was a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication of the winemakers. Jay provided us with extensive information about each wine, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of their unique characteristics and flavor profiles.
Leaving Pride Winery, we couldn't help but feel a genuine love and appreciation for the winemaking process. The knowledge we gained during the tour will stay with us forever, enriching our future wine tasting experiences. And, of course, the quality of the wine itself was nothing short of excellent.
If you're looking for an unforgettable winery experience in Napa Valley, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Pride Winery. It is up the mountain , with spectacular views of Napa Valley. Their commitment to producing exceptional wines, paired with their informative and engaging tour, makes it a must-visit destination for...
Read moreMy husband and I had an amazing tasting experience at Pride Mountain Vineyards with our host, Mark Ferguson. We had never heard of it before, but it was recommended at another tasting and we decided to give it a try - I’m so glad we did as we had an incredible time and it became one of our top 3 tastings ever! (The other top two are O’Shaughnessy and Cade in case you’re wondering.) We were there in January and it was a chilly and rainy day, but it was still a gorgeous drive to get up there. I can only imagine what it looks like on a sunny day, because even in the fog it was breathtaking. Mark was a phenomenal host and made us feel like we were old friends, he truly made the experience stand out. He gave us a great tour and provided us with a few different tastings as we walked through the wine cave. He was full of knowledge and taught us a lot about the wine and unique features of Pride Mountain Vineyards (the vineyard and tasting room sit on the border of Napa and Sonoma). After the tour we sat down to taste even more wines, all of which were impressive, while we chatted with Mark. We had so much fun that we lost track of time and ended up staying much longer than we’d planned! We’re already planning to visit again next time we are in the area!
We would be members if we could, but unfortunately we live in one of the few states that doesn’t allow...
Read moreI crafted a list of 'must visit' wineries before heading to Napa. While eating at Auberge du Soleil (which I also recommend!), a waiter said his all time favorite winery was Pride. Personally, I believe people's reviews more than anything else, so we added it to the list. Pride Mountain is most definitely off the beaten path, but a 100% worth it. We visited 10 (thoroughly researched) wineries and this was by far our favorite.
Jay, our amazing tour guide, played a huge role in our love of the experience. What sets this place apart (because most wineries in Napa have the 'view' and [hopefully] great wine), was the fact that this was the only winery visit where we left with a more knowledgable and passionate view on wine making. Walking us through the intricacies of growing your own grape to understanding your tastebuds, if you want to fully appreciate the art of creating wine, visit Pride Mountain (and make sure your tour is with Jay!!!).
And just in case you are looking for recommendations for others, may I suggest: Artesa - Best VIEWS. If you like to take some good pictures like me! Domaine Carneros is nearby and worth the visit as well. Cliff Lede (ask to see the art gallery!) - awesome place to relax, less busy Domaine Chandon - a bit on the commercialized side, but my favorite sparkling...
