Read moreWe stayed in the campground and it ended up being our favorite place we stayed during our roadtrip. We could see the ocean from our site and it was a vibe. The scenery was gorgeous. The bathrooms wete clean and tidy. There were showers and I think they were free use push button ones, but I'm not completely sure bc we didn't use them. We had a water spigot right next to our site which was awesome. We stayed in campsite #20.
The only weird thing is that they lock the gate to the park (which also locks you out of the campground) at 10pm. We went on a drive and got back around 9:30pm, and there was a ranger waiting with the gate shut. He was weird about letting us in even though it wasn't 10pm and we were staying in the campground. I also think there should've been something written clearly when making the reservation, bc this was the only site we got to before 10pm on our roadtrip and we would've been stressed and confused if we had gotten there after the gate was locked. I think that if you're going to have a campground within a state park, you need to make the campground accessible at all hours. I understand closing the gate for the park, but it shouldn't negatively affect...
Read moreNice place if all you care for is clams. We went here for camping last weekend. It was quiet among some old Western RedCedars and Douglas Firs. There are quite a few wildflowers blooming and quite a few birds chirping and singing. Our biggest disappointment was there was really no beach to walk onto. The beach is made up of large pebbles and rocks so it is impossible to stroll on it. On the northern side of the island, Cama Beach was submerged under high tide so we could not even see it.
The campground was not well maintained either. The site was uneven and not entirely clean. Restrooms were a long walk.
In general it was a disappointing beach state park but a beautiful park if I consider only trees and wildflowers and birds. There are lots of better places to go to in...
