The preserve itself is great—My complaint is about the elderly man who lives right next to the preserve parking lot. I drove well under the 25 mph posted speed limit on the road leading to the parking lot, slowed down upon entering the lot, then parked. I noticed the man walking towards me as I got out of my vehicle. He walked up to me and told me there are kids and dogs and I needed to slow down. WHAT?! I told him I was going under the speed limit and had checked my speed while driving. I believe I was going about 21 or 22 on the road. He told me he wasn't there to debate my speed, I just needed to be more careful.

Obviously if I am driving below the posted speed limit, and then slow down even more upon entering the parking lot, it isn't exactly like I am ripping and roaring into the lot. This guy seriously needs to occupy his time better and stop harassing visitors to public land.

If he approaches me again, I will tell him myself. It makes for an unpleasant visit when you know you may have to deal with someone trying to police the trail.

The trail itself is great. I have no idea why other reviewers said the beach is difficult to access...it is an extremely short walk from the parking lot. You just walk up to the little boardwalk platform which is just right in front of the lot and down a step or two and you are on the beach. Definitely not a "hike" by any stretch of the imagination.

The trails are great for birds and are level. Not strenuous at all. The hobbits trail is...

This proved to be a very easy hike, but only if we stayed on the trail, which we didn't. We climbed on logs and carefully picked our way through a seeming maze of massive, sun bleached logs littering the shoreline. We were a little bummed that every sign was just a warning not to shoot off guns, rather than being informative about the local flora and fauna. We saw several colorful birds, including many American Robins. The views were lovely, and the trail was a nice, one mile-long trek. As a bonus, there's a Hobbit trail at the end of the loop. This was a truly magical trek through a forest that could have easily felt right at home bordering the Misty Mountains of Tolkein's Middle Earth. Moss covered most of the forest trees. This was met with an often soggy trail serpentining through the delicate trees. In the parts of the trail where the mud is worst, somebody painstakingly placed planks covered in wire mesh for sure-footed trekking. All in all, super...

Beautiful place. Came on a dry, semi sunny Saturday around 1pm. Was not busy at all. There was plenty of parking, but I can see it filling up quickly during the summer or when the weather is beautiful. My kids enjoyed the beach. Mostly rocks and a little bit of sand. Saw an owl perched on sign which was very beautiful! My family and I have never seen an owl in real life before. The hobbit trail was a fun feature! It was very muddy and we did not wear the proper shoes. There are also other trails on the reserve but again it was muddy. Make sure to bring appropriate shoes. Highly recommended and on our list of places to visit again and again for a beautiful sabbath afternoon.

Iverson Trail may be small in size, but it’s a hidden gem—especially for bird enthusiasts. Tucked away at the end of a quiet community, the trail is well-maintained and easy to navigate. It offers an excellent opportunity for bird watching, with frequent sightings of songbirds, rufous hummingbirds, robins, great blue heron and Northern harrier. Toward the end of the trail, you’ll find nest boxes that support some birds. Whether you're an avid birder or just looking for a peaceful stroll, Iverson Trail is a delightful spot worth exploring.

Beautiful place to take a walk with my dog aside from the fact there is no garbage can provided. People will leave dog poo rather than pick it up because of this issue. No one wants to take poo into their car at the end of a walk... A garbage can should be provided, especially if there are porta potty techs coming by to service the two units provided. Why not add a trash collector as well? The hobbit trail is adorable and unique. Love that break in scenery! It's two places in one at Iverson Trail Preserve.
