Great place for a quick stop while you're driving up the coast line in Malibu, California it is right off Highway 1 and you can stop to take a break, walk around, sit back and relax or do whatever you want before heading further up the coast. I suggest going the entire Coastline of Malibu on Highway 1 because the further you head up - the more you can see without any obstruction of homes in the way. Pretty interesting to see all the campers that literally have campsites RIGHT on the beach. I'm not a camper per se but I actually could see myself renting a nice RV and spending a week right on the beach. Note: If you are retired and want to spend a couple of months staying in your RV in return not have to pay for your campsite, then Google "volunteer activities at Public Campgrounds or Parks California Coast". I read they will give you a free campsite for 1, 2, 3 or more months in exchange for volunteering. It look like your job duties are pretty easy or light work...

Read moreThornhill Broome Beach has great beachfront camping. Probably best if you are self contained, because there are only outhouses, and no flush toilets, sinks or showers. The outhouse are kept very clean though. If that doesn't bother you, you will love this place. Can't beat the view. Dolphins, seals, and sea lions swim by, just about every day. They play and fish in the waves, along with pelicans. Sand up near the sites is deep and soft. There are lots of round rocks in and near the waters edge, so they are rough on bare feet, but beautiful and interesting in themselves. Many fossils in them, which is super cool. Ocean on one side, mountains on the other. Gorgeous. You do get traffic noise from PCH, but usually the sound of the waves drown out the cars. Picnic tables, and fire pits are a bit worn out, but have a warm rustic appeal to them. On clear nights, the stars, moon, and the sound of the...
