We love this park! We just finished our third camping trip for Labor Day.

The campground is one of the largest we go to but somehow so quiet. We love A loop. The campground beach puts others to shame. It's huge and the water is clean and it's not super deep. We spent two afternoons there.

We tried out some of the nature programs and the naturalist, John, was incredibly knowledgeable. We heard about snakes at the Nature Center and got to see a black rat snake.

That evening, we did the Bigfoot night hike and it was so fun!!! Learned a lot about how to look for Bigfoot and the history of sightings. We also heard a Barred Owl and a Great Horned Owl so that was really cool.

The next day we looked for critters in the creek and found a lot! Never saw a dragonfly nymph before! Also found a salamander, lots of crawfish and a green frog.

John made all the information easily digestible and the adults and kids enjoyed themselves equally!

Back to the campground, the showerhouses were clean with decent water pressure and hot water (unless someone flushes the toilet). They have very large showerhouses with 8 to 10 showers and washing machines.

Everyone at the camp store was very friendly. We loved the gem mining and found the $21 bag worth the money. Each kid that got one found a large geode. Very fun!

Overall, this park is amazing and we are so lucky to have...

I’ve been visiting Salt Fork State Park in Cambridge, Ohio, for over 30 years, and I am extremely disappointed with the condition of the cabins recently. For the price they are charging, the state of the accommodations is simply unacceptable. The electrical outlets have covers missing, exposing wires, which is a serious safety concern. The windows are filthy, and the porch screens are ripped and in terrible shape. It’s clear that maintenance has taken a backseat, and it’s frustrating given how much we’ve enjoyed this place in the past.

Additionally, the Wildlife Lounge and Timbers Restaurant are outrageously overpriced. They are gouging customers, and it’s hard to justify the prices, especially when the quality and service don’t match. The bartender at the Wildlife Lounge seemed overwhelmed and underprepared, likely due to the few patrons who ventured in. A shot of Bacardi costing $10.50 is simply excessive and feels like a cash grab.

Ever since the park was privatized, the overall experience has plummeted. It used to be a wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature, but now it feels neglected and overcommercialized. I truly believe the state should take back control and restore the park to its former standards. Very...

I was absolutely devastated when we had an issue with our reservation this year. However, upon our arrival and discussing our issue with management, it was clear they were determined to make it right and they indeed did. Originally my review was going to be a pretty negative one, but in the end we had a wonderful time and they were sincere with their apology and you could tell they cared. We also noticed some positive changes during our stay. The restaurant food has improved significantly and wait staff were friendly (as they always have been in the past), but seemed better staffed than previous years. I also noticed the cleanliness of the lodge rooms and cabins. They were well kept and the staff we encountered were all very pleasant. The snack bar and staff at the sugar tree Marina were great too. In the end it was a wonderful trip and will continue to return to our special place. Thank you Justin, Matt and Madison for making things right. A special thank you to Travis at the front desk for his positive attitude and professionalism. We will be...

Huge park with a lot of areas to explore. Several of the hiking trails are near camping sites. If you aren't camping, the only parking for these trails is at the camp site shower room building. Trails are marked well. The ones we went on weren't very difficult, but could be interesting if there is a lot of rain or snow melt. The stone house is very interesting to visit from a historical perspective. It isn't open very long and only certain days of the week, but worth checking out if you are there at those times. The nature center wasn't open when we went by it, actually it and the whole area looked abandoned. The hotel is very nice and the room we stayed in was too. Nice balcony overlooking the forest with a bit of a lake view. Very foggy in the morning. We ate lunch and breakfast at the hotel. Food was quite good. Prices weren't cheap, but not the most expensive place either. Several people had dogs with them in the park and the hotel. Gift shop is nice and the prices there are fairly decent.

Beautiful place. We stayed at the primitive sites, well kept area but could use a few new picnic tables and fire rings. Only complaint I have is the map that they send in the email of the primitive area is incorrect. It shows there were sites across from my area with a bathroom which of been the closest, im like cool I can take my water pills and have a bathroom right there, but there was none. It showed there was potable water at the entrance by the parking and there wasn't. The closest was about 5-10min walk away down hill so coming back was a little challenging for me due to health issues and its the only one we could find. But the 1st time at a new campground it's always trial and error. We know now and will plan accordingly for next time because the park probably dont know the map is wrong. We wont let that little error stop us from coming back because we are definitely going to be booking again.

We rented a cabin mid-week at Salt Fork. It was great. Early March and warm but not hot. It was cool at night, which made the available fireplace and hot tub extra nice! The cabin had 2 bedrooms with a king bed in one and 2 bunk beds in the other. There was a full bathroom and kitchen, as well. The back porch was awesome for looking out over the lake, and that's where the hot tub was. All linens and tablewear were provided, as well as dish soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The park itself is interesting, with an expansive lake with lots of arms, hiking trails, bridle trails, and an impressive lodge. The views are just beautiful, even with most of the foliage down for the season! Overall, it was a great place to stay for Spring Break, and we would definitely recommend it to others!
