Read moreMixed light and heavy woods. Very few people, which was a plus. Rough - very rough - trail with mud a week after rain. The large right fork quickly dead ends at a river that looks impassable in all seasons. The left fork is a nice walk. It’s easy to lose the path. Many tetchy stream crossings and finally an impassable creek. Looking at the map it looks like the ‘loop’ ends at the impassable river crossing.
We walked four miles on what is supposed to be a 2.8 mile loop after having to turn back. Wear boots. Expect mud. Next time we will bring some trail marking ribbon to avoid missed paths....
Read moreThe place is really beautiful, but unless you are a horse you won't easily walk the loop. A creek has to be crossed twice. A horse walks through it easily enough. But hating wet shoes especially in cold weather one must either turn back or employ makeshift bridges. The fact that this creek is a significant obstacle should be mentioned at the start before on has spent a large amount of time and has to then decide is it quicker to retrace one's steps or forge ahead despite the trouble. Also the trail signage at points indicates people hiking trails where it is the case...
