Matus Winery — Attraction in Camden Township

We held an event there last night and it was my first time there. I will go back, it is lovely! The location is nice, they have live entertainment that is perfect for sipping wine and munching on a cheese tray (very reasonably priced, I might add) and the wine was good. They appear to be very accommodating and even will take the time to talk with you about the wine making process. You can see through the windows and watch them stirring and mashing the grapes they grow right there on site. I'm glad they are so close to our home as I intend to go back. If you are considering them for an event I would suggest you book it early as while we were setting up we had two people stop by to 'look it over' as they were either already booked or planning to book. 💜💜💜 Always a wonderful place to hang out and relax. Unfortunately, we don't drink wine, so we didn't ever visit our local wineries, but then friends invited us to Matus one evening.

We learned we could bring our own pizza, snacks, etc. So now we purchase soft drinks, etc at Matus & make certain to tip the help in order to support their inviting generosity.

When there is entertainment; we make certain we put $$ in the performer's tip jar. It's a large enough place so that you can dance and be near the entertainment, or sit a distance away for conversation with friends. Outside patios, too!!

Matus hit the Ohio winery experience on the head. Not only do they have a great atmosphere, with great service, a fun patio with games to play, and a dog friendly environment, they have some really good wines as well. Whereas many wineries in the region try to grow grapes more suited for California, this winery excels at taking grapes which grow well here in Ohio and building on them. Many of their wines include Concord grapes and their fruit wines are excellent. Their drier grapes, such as Chambourcin and Frontenac are great as well.
