It’s a clean visitor center with cool animal exhibits. However as someone who graduated high school (an abnormality in this county) it is disgusting that this visitor center has used thousands of tax payer dollars to preserve a confederate monument. Romanticizing treason and the fight for the “necessary evil” that the CSA constitution was written for is a reflection of the large rural Kentucky population’s ignorance and insistence of staying that way. The educated people in this county would never dare to stand up to this treason, and it’s a shame we still live in a country where this occurs. I will never be returning to Campbellsvile or this state park for these reasons. I have met many nice people while fishing and getting food here and don’t mean to judge the local people, but I am disgusted by the local general population’s tolerance of casual racism and white supremacy.    Read moreThis is a great little educational spot for kids. Moms love the center as a rainy day location to take kids for hands-on learning. There are live fish, bees, and turtles to look at; animal pelts to feel; leaves to rub with a crayon; bird and animal calls to listen to; and a partial boat for learning boat safety (or playing pirate if your kid is like mine). On sunny days, you can view the lake from a look-out point, take a little walk, investigate historic buildings, play on the playground, and picnic under a pavilion. It's a lovely place.
