The people are kind and their farm is beautiful. I feel blessed that they let the public come onto their land to pick some of the BEST berries I've ever had! I've gone there the past 6 years. I love that the family runs the farm together. Prices are fair. The farm is clean. The one daughter is especially kind and I appreciate her, always gives me a kind smile and talks to me. I've been to one farm in OC that the owner is not very nice and is money hungry. I over picked by $5 and I asked if she could just take some of the berries to sell and she told me no, and wouldn't let me have all the berries I picked, which was $55 worth, until I went to an ATM, to get the $5. I will never go back there. I picked at that farm often and couldn't believe she either couldn't take some of the berries off to sell as "already picked," or give me the benefit of the doubt and just let me have the extra $5 worth of berries. I gave her so much money over a couple years as a patron of her farm. Not to mention the OC farm is EXPENSIVELY priced. Barlow Berries is a great farm and a good place to take your kids. I will continue to frequent Barlow Berries! They...
Read moreGiant waste of time--the berries they are selling right now are mostly overripe and rotten.
I drove out today to pick up two flats, after seeing their facebook posts saying their strawberries were ready.
The young guy at the desk was glued to his phone and barely looked up when I had a question.
The upick looked pretty slim so I decided to buy them out of the refrigerated case. I avoided the flats that said "For Jam," since I was buying them to freeze whole, or to eat.
I brought the two flats home and immediately started processing them (within an hour). The first flat had about 70% good strawberries, the rest were overripe and rotten. That wasn't ideal but OK.
The second flat was nearly all bad--about 95% were overripe and too soft. On the surface, they looked OK (which is why I bought them). But once I touched them, it was clear they were soft and mushy. A total waste of money.
I admit it is my fault for not looking more closely at them, but I also wanted to warn others so they...
Read moreI have been going to South Barlow for 6 years, and have never been disappointed with strawberries, raspberries, marionberries, and Blackberries. I buy all of them each year and make jam for my family's and friends. They tell me my jam is best and pies too. The reason my jam is great is the berries nothing beats Oregon berries and how they grow and attend to the very clean fields. South Barlow stands by their berries and if you have problem they make it right, but I never have had a problem since I been going. I have tried many different places in Oregon and none have equal the quality of South Barlow berries. The prices are so reasonable too, like some others to high and the quality was horrible. When you throw half the berries away because, underneath the good berries you find rotten berries I call that a scam. South Barlow has high standards and they stand by their product and that's why people keep coming back year after year, and I will continue to go where the fresh...
