We just finished a road trip through eight states in the southeast US including the Great Smoky Mountains, and this one quick stop off the Natchez Trace Parkway took me by surprise and was maybe the most beautiful place we came across the entire time. There's a nice boardwalk that let's you walk right through the middle of the swamp and bask in its glory. There's also a quick 20 minute trail that will take you around a lot of the swamp. The trail was a bit overwhelmed by plant growth so if you don't want to get caught up in those plants you can stick to the boardwalk. As a bonus we saw an alligator swimming through the water. Please check...

The Cypress swamp is a rest area on the Natchez Trace Parkway. It has water looks like a few feet deep and a lot of trees growing out of it. Of course in a swamp there are lots of bugs around. It's a nice rest area to pull out. Easy to see from the main road. This won't would be compatible to other ones. It's just a wildlife area in a rest area pull out. It's easy to get on and off of the main Highway. I highly recommend it to anyone. If you like my reviews please leave a...

15Dec2023 Cypress Swamp The swamp with lots of Tupelo and Cypress Trees. Swamp with eerie and ghostly silence. Somewhere that Gator is there feeling. But you don’t get to see any. Beautiful Swamp Nature Trail. 20 minutes you need to take a walk, but you can take more time to watch and experience, but in reality you run through it to complete the trail in 15 minutes. I like it so much that I took lots of pictures and watched the swamp…are you there ? Oh...

Cypress Swamp is a quiet, almost otherworldly stop along the Natchez Trace. The boardwalk loop through the towering trees and still water makes for a peaceful and slightly mysterious walk. It’s a great spot for nature photography, birdwatching, or just taking a break from the road to enjoy something truly unique. The reflections on the water and the sounds of the swamp make it feel like stepping into another world. A short stop, but a memorable one.

There is something otherworldly about visiting this Cypress swamp. If you are traveling the Natchez trace, this is a definite must see! The gloomy atmosphere, the huge cypress trees, and the murky water created a unique ambience that we really enjoyed. We were even treated to the sight of a few small alligators playing around. There is a set of stairs leading down to the boardwalk, so it would not be considered suitable for wheelchairs.
