My brother and I went a few days ago to bring my father's ashes for interment. Since my father passed away in February we were unable to have a real funeral at the cemetery, with COVID restrictions limiting the number at the graveside to 10. We chose to have a ceremony for him in July at our church locally and then bring his ashes to the cemetery. The day before we went up there I spoke with the Director of the cemetery Francisco Gonzalez and confirmed that my brother and I would be able to stand graveside and watch the burial. I was also told we would receive a flag at that time. When we arrived we were told that we would NOT be able to stand at the graveside, rather we would have to watch from over 30 yards away (standing at the road). To add further insult, the crew of 6 that were working in that section of the cemetery were NOT wearing masks and were joking and poking with each other (not practicing any of the social distancing and mask guidelines that were forced on us). My father served in multiple wars across the world, was awarded more medals (including the Bronze Star) than he could wear on a single uniform, yet he was denied even the basic respect of his two sons to stand next to his graveside when he is put in the ground. The only good thing about this experience was that the government took care of paying for the plot and the stone. The biggest joke is that we were denied this basic respect based on rules that their own staff were not even...
Read moreThe grounds are beauitful, the Field Crew is amazing at what they do and the Admin crew is amazing too. Only negitive thing I have to say is, I did work there for 3 years, got hurt on the job and the government did what they could to push me out. Now I'm still dealing with Workers compenstion and have lost feeling in my hands, tremors, dizzyness, and headaches that don't go away.
The Foreman doesn't know what he is doing. He is a glorify Gardener from New York trying to act as a Foreman, that creates hostile work enviroment by twisting words, and blames people for stuff when they are not there. He sits at his computer all day long with a wall of sticky notes from past years. and no one has a clue what he does, cause nothing gets done.
When I did get hurt, I had a doctors note for limitation and gave it to him. He said, "HR said its ok for me to work my normal job." Then I got another note for limitations and gave it to the acting Director at the time cause the Foremen was not there. They sent me home immediately, and they told the Foreman to do a Light Duty Assignment. I was stuck at home for 22 days without pay waiting for him to do the LDA. He went on vacation and didn't do it. It took the Director and Workleader 45 mins to do the LDA, and I was able to return. I still haven't been paid to this day for my work...
Read moreMy father is buried there, and as a child, he would often mention to me that he would prefer to be buried in this cemetery for one reason, and that one was because he knew that his fake family and friends wouldn't travel that far to see him. Funny, but he was the real mccoy, nothing fony about him. A true Marine. I miss my Dad a lot, but I'm extremely glad that I was able to honor one of his last wishes by placing him in a place where he really wanted to rest in peace in. The grounds are just like he was in this life fascinating, well-kept, and clean. I like taking the long drive to visit his resting place because it gives me time to reflect on my upbringing by him and just to feel a little remnant of his personality. I love my dad and always will. He was the greatest father to me and my...
