I cannot recommend getting married at the Mimosa Barn enough. I have wanted to get married here since I found the location on Instagram years ago. I loved the property and the elegant black and white aesthetic with the wood accents. The barn is renovated beautifully so it doesn’t even really look like a barn and the scenery is so gorgeous. They have a dock and lake out back and around the side, a small garden fountain area and such a beautiful home as the backdrop. It is secluded but close enough to the town of Cape Charles area so it was simple to go back and forth for the weekend. She also offers you the whole property for the whole weekend, so you don’t have to worry about small drop off/pickup and set up/breakdown times. We were able to do the rehearsal the day before, drop off the décor and rentals and then pick up everything the next day after the wedding so no craziness before or after the wedding. They also are always available to text-we had multiple questions about setting up the firepit furniture, outlets that weren’t working, etc and they always answered right away! They even drove you around on the ATV for pictures, so we didn’t have to walk much, and we had ample time for photos. Overall, this venue and Paula and her husband were wonderful for our wedding, and we are so happy that this was our...
Read morebeautiful venue, beautiful barn and reception area. the property and the venue are sure to please your wedding guests, but there are a few important things to remember. venue doesn't have air conditioning. (the wedding i attended was outside in the afternoon. there was plenty of shade, but summertime humidity in this area is anywhere from 65-80% with air that humid you can and will SWEAT ALOT. (no fault of the owners). venue is well manicured and very clean, however it's very difficult to push a wheelchair on grass, especially when the grass is damp from recent rainfall. (again no fault of the owners) these things are just caveats you should be aware of, the owners have done a splendid job with this property and what im pointing out aren't really complaints, just caveats to be aware of. if there were just a few more paved paths that would accomdate wheel chairs just a little better.. then i would have rated this 5 stars.
this is a very beautiful place and i wouldn't hesitate to attend another wedding or event held there. late spring and summer weddings due to the weather can be a little uncomfortable, but to be fair the wedding was held at the end of june, so you really expect it to be hot/humid. the shade on the property really did help...
Read moreWhere do I even start! My husband and I recently got married and threw a reception style party a few months later. The Mimosa Barn could not have been a more perfect venue to host our party. The barn, the grounds, the creek, the house - everything was absolutely stunning and our guests were floored by the views!
Aside from the venue being absolutely gorgeous, we have to give the biggest applause to Paula (the owner). Paula is the kindest human being and was SO accommodating. She was always available for questions, around for venue visits, and provided the best local vendor recommendations!
If you are looking to get married/host an event on the ESVA, we highly recommend the...
