I spent the day at the beach yesterday, July 9th. There was a lady and gentleman that arrived shortly after we did sitting up near the grassy dunes reading the newspaper minding his business and not trying to draw any attention to himself (He was wearing a speedo sitting in a chair)The lady went for a walk on the beach. My adult daughter and i heard a man yelling, "Cover up man there are kids around here!!" The man yelling at the man in the speedo. The rude yelling gentleman was the worst person i have ever seen at the beach in my 40 plus years of going to beaches all over....he continued to yell at the man and he left he went and shook the sand off his towel right over the man in speedos head. I was appalled, never have i seen such a display of ignorance at the beach. As the yelling man left he stated the man was exposing himself (in much more vulgar terms) to everyone around us.The lady with the man in the speedo returned from a walk and the couple departed. The man in the speedo was not parading up and down the beach, he was sitting in the back of the beach reading his paper and minding his business. The rude man stated he was going to report the speedo man to the state park employees. Please people lets be more tolerant of peoples attire, if the gentleman wants to wear a speedo, it is none of our business. Im sure if a woman was wearing a scantily clad bikini the rude gentleman would not be yelling at her...
Read moreThis small park was quaint and beautiful. The beach was a bit busy and had a cove like feel with calm waters... definitely not an "oceanside" type beach with large waves... which makes it a great place for small children. There is a sandy beach area as well as a rocky shore to explore.
The park charged $6/person, 16 and up. I'm not sure if younger ones are free or reduced price since we didnt have any in our vehicle.
There is some inland trails that wind around marshy areas. Would recommend mosquito and tick repellent for sure! I hadn't brought any and had several mosquitos bites.
I enjoyed the diversity of small ecosystems with the "cove" ocean water, the tide pools, the marshes, and the grasslands. It was a beautiful spot.
Dogs are allowed in the park, but NOT on the beaches from spring to the end of September, due to endangered wildlife that...
Read moreAwesome place to go by yourself or with friends/family. Very low key and quiet, the view is beautiful, and the best part is that there is a shower and restroom for the public. Llbean is kind enough to provide free chairs, beach toys, books, and small entertainment like beach balls for you to borrow. Make sure to put them back yourself!
Do remember to bring your own food, and there's a bbq grill there ( first come first serve) and there is an entry fee. Please keep in mind that it would be put to good use like maintaining the cleanliness of the park. Plenty of parking for everyone, and there's a police patrol car that circles around to keep everything in order.
Be warned that there's a lot of seaweed and ocean debris but does not ruin the experience or relaxation for you. Also there are no pets allowed, just something to...
