I had a wonderful experience at JOCKEY LOT yesterday!! They had their annual Garage Sale with lots of Vendors along with their regular weekly Vendors selling almost anything that you would want to buy at very reasonable prices. You can even find lots of antique items (if u looove antiques- which I loooove)!!! The Garage Sale Vendors sell the majority of Antiques and of course, lots of other items. Some of the Garage Sale Vendors will gladly negotiate with you and sometimes even "give away " some of their items (which I experienced yesterday)!!! Especially, if they have a lot of items and just want to get rid of some things and/or those particular items are not moving or if you spend time talking to them (wheeling and dealing)!!!! Yesterday, one Vendor "gave" me an Antique SINGER SEWING MACHINE. Another vendor gave me 2 Porcelain Dolls, 2 Cabbage Patch Dolls and an Angel that was made out of "paper" in exchange for an old "baby doll" that I had just bought from another Vendor for $1.00. She collected Dolls, especially Antique Dolls. WHAT A DEAL!! This Vendor was very flexible and easy to wheel and deal with!! Most of the Garage Sale Vendors ARE flexible and easy to wheel and deal with because they have so much stuff, they just want to get rid of a lot of their stuff!! My tip to people whom love Garage Sales is to communicate with the Vendor (especially when you don't have a lot of money to spend)!!! I went to JOCKEY LOT with only $20 and came home with $5.00 left!! I even ate there!! The food Vendors are the only ones that you can't wheel and deal with. The food prices are rediculous!! They were EVEN were selling Boiled Crawfish!! Hey na!! You can even buy Tires, Tools, Electronics and electrical items, Furniture, Plumbing items, Toys, Clothes, Jewelry, and lots of other cheap and expensive household items!! Some of the Vendors sold crafts and/or items that they made or built themselves for very reasonable prices!!! I saw some Wood Work items from one of the Vendors (that looked soooo professional), whom crafted himself and was selling these homemade wood crafts anywhere from $20 to $40!! I couldn't believe it!! CRAFTS LIKE THESE are usually VERY expensive if you buy them at a Store!! I do homemade sewing crafts and sold some of them before and consumers don't realize how much "time" and "effort" it takes to do that!! So, customers and consumers don't pay for your time. They're just paying for the finished product!! I highly recommend JOCKEY LOT and flea market a great place to shop and save money and make money as a...
Read moreATM SCAM!!! Management knew their ATM has a tendency not to distribute the proper amount of funds. I made a withdrawal and immediately went to a vendor. Realized I didn't have the proper amount. Checked withdrawal slip and went back to ATM, located at the office. I explained that it didn't give me the proper amount. They said the machine "sometimes sticks to the last few bills" and that "the person behind me must have gotten the remainder of my cash". If this was just a simple mistake the machine makes, then why don't they have a sign up, informing people to double check the money slot? I can only imagine how many other people have had this happen. And I'm sure some people are going to put the blame solely on me for not counting at the machine. But forgive me for not wanting to wave a wad of cash around. They've cheated the customer and sadly their vendors. Because I refused to take more money out and their vendor lost the sale. I'll never be returning with my business. And I'm going to make sure that I mention this every single time, when the subject of the jockey lot comes up. It's an absolute shame, for the last few good vendors that they've got. The place is already a complete mockery with only a handful of vendors left, who aren't solely compromised of...
Read moreIf you plan on coming here with children or family members who get easily overwhelmed or overestimated I recommend preparing for plenty of quiet and calming times, maybe bring some noise canceling headphones as well. Smells vary often from super strong to very faint depending on what little booth you walk past so if you're like me a minor head ache might pop up. Remember: most of the shops take bills, so be prepared with plenty of those on hand if you see something nice!
Also bring hand sanitizer! When I was on one of the shops I might have touched or held something that had traces of one of my allergens as my hands did have a minor allergic reaction, so if you have touch allergies please be safe.
Besides those it was nice to wonder, people are friendly, some little shops are your typical grandma's garbage sale kinda deal but there are some crystal shops, snack shops, and people sharing & selling their well crafted Passions. I recommend the guy who is selling the hand made knifes and leather near alley 500. Good weight, real wood and metal, beautiful work and...
