Upon arriving to this rustic area we were greeted by a large sign that says, Wendt's Wildlife Adventure. There is lots of rustic scenery leading to the place with a large stone wall built by stone masons. The parking lot was small but not overcrowded. We walked into an inviting building/gift shop to purchase our tickets. The lady at the counter was friendly and took our picture, very welcoming. The gift shop was nice a little busy with shelving. We walked into a large barn/building facilities are clean and inviting. Some animals have very small enclosures but seemed happy and taken care of. Inside there were sloths, wallabees, porcupines, turtles, a corn snake, some birds, a bearded lizard and another type of lizard. You walk out of the building into the park there are picnic areas and large corrugated tubing slides with swings for the kids. We ate lunch under a shade tree there was a spewing fountain nearby. We walked to the right and there were emus, one emu has a tumor on his eye, the worker seemed to realize he had it..unsure if it's being doctored. But the animals looked healthy otherwise. There areas are clean and neat. The mini cows were lovely you can feed most of the animals. Inside another barn lived goats and alpacas, and a camel. The camel was closed in a very small space. He was white friendly and beautiful. He needed more area to roam unsure if he was shut in for health reasons. We walked up a hill to see ostriches, zebras and large camels..they were friendly and interested in the guest. We then ended in a parakeet encounter trailer. It was clean you can give them sticks with seeds on them they will climb on you and let you pick them up. The children loved it. There was some kids used bandaid on the swing bar. The staff was notified. The man was not overly friendly but did take care of the problem at once. Overall we had a great time and will be back. It is a great 3-4 hours experience longer I'd you want to just hang out. The bubbling brook and bridge were beautiful. The old barn in the back gave it character. The hauling trailers in the front gave an uneasy opening experience but despite any concern it was a beautiful, well maintained, inviting place that was just the right temperature in August. Our kids were very happy. Great for children 10 and under and adults to enjoy with them. Again we will be wildlife adventuring again. :) What...
Read moreThe facility was really clean and well-kept. We came on a weekday morning, and it wasn’t overly crowded, so we were able to see everything without too much interaction with other guests. They have some very interesting animals, like sloths, African porcupines, kangaroos, camels, zebras, and exotic birds. There are a lot of goats, and sometimes the babies get out of the pen and roam around. They are adorable and really eager to devour anything that might be remotely edible. There is a bird encounter area where you can feed birds and they will land on you, and the kids had a blast with that. There is also a kangaroo enclosure. They have a little play area with slides, swings, and a train play set. There are picnic tables and clean, spacious bathrooms. Admission is free for age 2 and under, kids are $10, seniors and military $11, and adults $12. You can also buy animal feed for $3/serving. These prices add up quickly for a family, so be aware - also at the entrance, there’s a very well-appointed gift shop with lots of sugary treats and brightly colored things kids will ask for. If you really want to see a zebra, or a camel, or a sloth, or have a bird land on your hand, and you don’t mind paying for it, then I’d definitely recommend this place. Otherwise, you could go to a local orchard for cheaper. Orchards usually have petting zoos (the Wildlife Adventure is probably half goats, anyway) and the orchards’ playgrounds are much bigger. Since we live in Lexington, we will probably just go to the orchard next time we want to do an outdoor/livestock activity, because it’s closer and cheaper- but I am glad we...
Read moreGo to Wendt’s Wildlife Adventure! This is an amazing place! We stumbled across this animal adventure, along with the Airbnb home on the property, when trying to find somewhere unique to stay near Lexington Kentucky. The Airbnb home we stayed at on property was very comfortable and the animal experience the next morning was perfect! You can get up close with so many animals, offering them carrot treats, and petting them. Our girls were so excited to see the baby camel, the baby llama, and the baby sloth. I would highly recommend this place as it is clean, the animals seem well taken care of, the staff is friendly, and there is plenty to do on property. We saw sloths, zebras, llamas, camels, goats, cows, bats, kookaburras, tons of birds, capybaras, reptiles, kangaroos, porcupines, and more. A really nice blend of outdoor and indoor experiences that aren’t too far apart but the animals all still seem to have plenty of room to live. There is also the Daniel Boone house which you can tour on your own, a great little café, playground, really fun parakeet experience, and gift shop. I had to drag two of my kids out of the parakeet experience because they just wanted to hang out there all day! The admission prices were very reasonable too. This place is a treasure and definitely worth making the...
