Beautiful and peaceful but very windy. Which we as a plus for us cause when we visited it was really hot. Perfect spot for a roadside picinic. There are no restrooms but not far down the road at the park headquarters there are some. Seriously, the views are breathtakingly gorgeous. If you visit, you won't be disappointed. The drive there is relaxing . Just remember to fill up your tank cause there's no gas station near. Also, make sure to download offline maps cause you will lose cell service.

Great view of El Capitan. Very close to the Pine Springs visitor center. Excellent spot for sunset. Can get very windy and cold once the sun goes down. We tried doing some astrophotography, but this spot is right next to the highway and car headlight beams can be seen on the mountain and ruin the shot. There are some picnic areas with trash bins. Ground is covered with small gravel. Watch out if you're walking around in the dark. I tripped and fell. Decent amount of parking.

El Capitan is the 10th highest point in Texas, which is over 8000 feet above sea level. It is also a signature scene of Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Here may be the best place to have an overlook of the peak. Many cover page photos about Guadalupe Mountains National park were taken at this point. Finally, please keep this in mind, the best time to be there is near or before the sunset because the peak will become gold color at that point of time.
