Ponto State Beach Jetty — Attraction in Carlsbad

Wide beach, plenty space for 2020-2021 “Social Distancing” and local lifeguard never there to harrass mask enforcement. Ponto South parking is pull straight in so easy to get stuck in smaller car which I did. Ponto North is easier more organized horizontal curbside parking. Jetties are tight fit like a puzzle for easy walk i even did on crutches. Plenty of airy beach space for those more concerned about strict soc distancing or higher risk. Recently I noticed more local cbad police harassment/enforcement when clearly as I had just left the Ralph’s parking where there seems to be far more daily incidents where police presence would be far better served than using up limited parking at North Ponto to harrass one gentleman being ticked wearing nothing more than board shorts just trying to find his car. There’s an obvious problem since covid local law making choices to enforce unnecessary soc dist guidelines that clearly Ponto beach goers are responsible and friendly who unlike other beaches need more resources than sleepy, quiet local beach Ponto where mostly local non-tourists beach goers seem to know and respect distance guidelines. Lifeguard on other hand have been a model for beach goers just there to treat wounds and be a presence and safety for the many families who frequent here. Imo it’s critical we never turn this state into a military police enforced martial law state with national guard driving down the 101 enforcing mask guidelines not law btw and driving in hazmat suits alone windows up double masked.
