Bretz Wildlife Lodge & Winery — Attraction in Carlyle

From the Keys to the Kalahari!!!!! Ms. Alyssa and associates, you saved our day!!! As after seating ourselves at the Keys towards the north end of the lake and waiting a full half hour without anyone visiting our table to let us know the status of the wait, wait-staff, or kitchen, we finally uprooted ourselves from the mezzanine seating and left. We had seen Bretz on the net and decided to travel on down to try out this exotic looking establishment. This was the best decision we could have made as the team met us at the door and immediately made us feel welcomed, communicated any items they were short of, the days special, and the expected wait. The food was excellant, fresh, and exceeded our expectations for portions. The facility was clean and had several interesting areas to explore while we waited the exact amount of time our server expected the fresh chicken to be prepared. We definitely will return with a much larger crowd in the near future!! Thanks to the whole group for making our lunch special and saving what could have been a Sunday trip ruined by poor service...

So disappointed is a understatement. Reviews and hotel highly recommended this place. I'd rather grab a bucket of chicken from KFC in the next town. Would have saved money. We were seated - took forever to get our beverages (two cokes) Got the nachos - nothing to rave about - we ordered two chicken breast dishes. Now these are not fancy. Soon after a table of two and a table of four walked in - nearly an hour after - both tables had their food and we did not. I was miffed. Told the waitress that just wanted it to go. Conveniently, it was bagged and ready to go in less than two minutes. Got the feeling - my girl and I wasn't a local and did not want my business. No napklns, no plastic silverware. Our family has been coming here monthly to celebrate family birthdays. Started coming in February and were seated inside as per reservation. Tonight even with reservations being on the books for a month nothing was set up. Were told to go to the bar to place our food and drink orders but the bartender completely ignored the dozen people trying to order our food. One and half hours after ordering food we were told it was ready. Found our orders piled up on back bar with no one knowing which order was theirs when we got it sorted out almost everyone’s food was cold or Luke warm at best.
