I’m giving them one star because the attitude of some of the volunteers there is atrocious. We have a two yr old and a five yr old and I’m currently pregnant. Today we went there and it was my two yr olds first time (she’s used to us going to farms where we can hold the chickens etc) and one of the volunteers yelled out very disrespectfully and loudly to the kids to stop chasing the chickens. I totally understand there are rules and we’ve always respected that but there’s a different way to go about speaking to other peoples children. I really don’t care about the chickens more than my kids being yelled at when they could have been spoken to with respect and understanding. My daughter even came home and told my husband she was scared of the the woman that yelled at them at the farm. This other volunteer just moved my stroller out of the way and told my 5 yr old it has to be moved (when I thought I had left it out of the way). Apparently a hose had to be run across the entrance of where the sheep were. She could have just told us. My friend was inside with her own stroller and baby inside and this volunteer didn’t even give us a heads up to be able to get out before she took the hose out. We had to lift the stroller over to get out....
Read moreWe went to Klein Creek Farm on a whim one day, my toddler and I. It was a really warm winter day and we wanted to take advantage of the weather. We couldn't have had a better time! The property is beautiful and the woman in the visitors center was so very helpful and let us know there were tours of the house hourly. So we walked over and caught the woman leading the tours as she was coming out to ring the bell signifying that a tour was about to start. She said she needed to check the chicken coop for eggs and we could come. We got to help gather the eggs that were there before going on a tour if the big house. After the tour we came outside and heard hammering and went to explore. We found the source of the noise in a barn near the house. They were putting winter horse shoes on the horses and we watched for awhile. Then we got to the cows at feeding time. We can't wait for another warm day to visit our new favorite outdoor destination.
We returned today after a few years. This time with a now 8 year old and younger sister (5) for the maple sugaring demonstrations. We had a great time trying our hand at drilling the hole for the spile and tapping it in with a hammer. We can't wait to try our maple sugaring we bought at...
Read moreDo not recommend bringing big groups of children. Unfortunately had an unpleasant experience. Called ahead of time to ask if we needed to reserve a time to get the house tour, was told we didn’t have to book ahead of time, (regardless of how many students we had) because they run every hour depending if there are visitors or not. Upcoming arriving to the tour, was greeted with a clearly unhappy and not pleasant tour guide who was not thrilled that we didn’t book ahead of time. throughout the tour, our students had reasonable and very thoughtful questions for a group of 6-8 year olds. However, the tour guide was clearly annoyed that she had to answer any questions regarding history of the house (even though that’s her job??) I was shocked by her sarcastic and snarky answers that left our campers confused because they clearly don’t understand sarcasm at their age. I used to go here as a child myself and really enjoyed my experiences. But leaving the farm today left me feeling sad because of the poor experience our students had and probably won’t look back on it as an enjoyable or at all...
