Love the area but those who work in the office are RUDE AND IMPOLITE . At least the women who answered for Crawfordville I reached out for details regarding Silverlake Pavilion. Crawfordville office answered finally, very rude not very competent or friendly :) she seemed very agitated at the onset of our conversation. Quickly, she let me know after chuckling and kind of laughing saying they didn't need reservations for the pavilion (1st come first serve) so I said that's great. I ignored her little chuckle, but continued to let her know that I hope I didn't have any problems with using she chuckled again when I was being serious And was gonna ask more questions about electric and water hook ups and such, but did not feel comfortable after her chuckling continued you know people are calling and it should be taken serious not laughing at someone over the phone. As a professional, someone with years of administrative experience I know that was very out of place. Furthermore, I advised her that website says closed on Saturday and Sunday for Silverlake recreation area but from my own personal knowledge , they're open on the weekends she chuckled Again and said with a strong tone "they don't have an office so i'm not sure why It would say that. "(Haha, very helpful) like lady just confirm they are open maybe ..... instead of being rude and having a haughty and nasty attitude. As if I were being ignorant in my asking, very uncomfortable conversation. I was just seeking guidance. I dislike those who use phone conversations to attempted to meaning others, as if they were ignorant it really shows what type of...

I love it because there is some of the best fishing in the world and some of the creeks and River that anyone could ever day we do it all the time we go down and stay a week at a time or more and fish and it's not far from the beach so you can go to the beach st. George Island and it is a great place to go but I love that Apalachicola River it is one of the best places in the world and you can go to River Styx or Shepherd slow or go to Owl Creek and put in and fish I got two gardeners Landing or bloody Bluff all are great places to go fishing you will love it as much as we do I have been doing it all my life I'm originally from Apalachicola but I no longer live there but I go back as often as I can to the forest to fish and if you want to go into the national forest there is plenty of creeks and things where you can fish and catch plenty of fish out of them as my son and daughter-in-law just to have done they caught 30 and no time open what they call Tate's hell which they had a great day so I hope you all appreciate the update and that black color National Forest it is a wonderful place to come and visit and to camp or walk the trails or just fish so enjoy like...

Definitely a 5 star adventure everytime. Established in 1936, the Apalachicola is the largest national forest in Florida, covering about 574,000 acres. There is so much to see and do. Highly recommend taking the time to speak with some locals ask them a few questions before you adventure unprepared. Local businesses have great advice and you can support the communities by shopping with them. Get a map and always take extra flashlight batteries if you are adventuring at night. Really good advice would be to contact Florida wildlife commission and not go during hunting season. The hunters appreciate the quite and please don't litter or let your campfire get out of control. Preserve this forest for future...

Went hunting before the general gun season went out on 1/30/2019. Saw a lot of different kinds of game. Saw several deer, saw a few possums, saw a bunch of squirrels. Got the amazing opportunity to see a white squirrel in the middle of the Woods away from Human interaction. No legal bucks to take, but a lot of sites, peace, and tranquility. Apalachicola National Forest has anything and everything just about you could want to do. I'm just so blessed to live so close to it. And am so proud to be a gun-toting, Avid Outdoorsman living in Leon county, in the state of Florida, in the United States of America. You can't beat it!!!

Hiked Florida Trail across the Apalachicola National Forest. Trail was amazing, and we saw many beautiful sites, especially along the Sopchoppy River. It was awesome to see all the old growth trees hiking through Bradwell Bay Wilderness, but it was somewhat difficult trudging through the swamp. Only complaint was lots of hunters, who were all nice, but their barking dogs were very annoying. Didn't see a lot of wildlife... probably due to the same complaint.
