Free camping! We camped on the western most campsite, snugged up in the northeast corner of the parking lot by the woods. I wish there were more grassy areas to camp on, as the lot is huge, they could easily shrink the lot by 30% and make more room for tent camping. However, free is free. It was peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Great stargazing. Bring bug spray, as there were a lot of flies, though not many mosquitoes. The huge bonus is the amount of birds! We camped by the woods, and were treated to wonderful birdsongs all day, especially in the morning and evening. The campsite is a short walk to the river (maybe 300 yards). It was great to go sit by the river and take it all in. The Missouri River is so gorgeous and awe-inspiring. I wish Missourians would appreciate the river more, and be cognizant of litter. There is so much plastic waste along the shore. I can only imagine how much is in the river as it rushes by.

Too many crops, not enough wetlands, but still an enjoyable place to drive around and look at wildlife. Can always walk to the river easily in multiple spots.

Amazing conservation area. Absolutely beautiful, can't wait to get back out there for some hunting.

This CA really needs to go to the electric draw system they have at Ted Shanks CA. We had a reservation, and by the time we got our spot we had exactly 12 minutes to get from the draw house to the spot, set up, and hide. Needless to say we missed out on the first 20-30 minutes of shooting time. The draw process is really broken here and needs to be streamlined. People drive hours to hunt here and then have bad experiences waiting so long to get their spot...

Many juvenile eagles as well as a number of adults. Saw some hawks , good time had by all. Please remember to keep your litter and cigarette butts in your vehicle. This area is too nice to foul up. Hundreds of snow geese, go appreciate nature in person instead of with...
