Spooner Lake — Attraction in Carson City

The trail around the immediate perimeter of Spooner Lake is essentially flat -- a couple miles but flat. For those who need to take "gentler" walks, this trail should be fine for you. For non-mountain folk, because the lake is at just about 7000 feet in elevation, you might hesitate -- but, given the flat trail, this trail should be fine for you. At the top of the pass between Carson City and Lake Tahoe. Beautiful lake and surrounding scenery. Visitor center, parking and picnic areas just redone. Extremely crowded on weekends, good luck finding parking. Visit midweek as we did, and it is a very pleasant hike around the lake. It is also an access point for other trails.
