The mayor of Cary often highlights beautification efforts, but it’s clear that inclusivity, decency, and public safety don't receive the same attention. While visiting this park yesterday, I saw firsthand why these parks are expanding throughout the area—on the surface, it’s a large, well-equipped space with a splash pad, basketball courts, and baseball fields. But something about the atmosphere felt off, like an underlying agenda.
As we approached the splash pad, a woman nearby suddenly blew a harmonica when we got close. It felt like some kind of odd signal, not just spontaneous behavior. Shortly after, a man with two dogs walked by, and one of the dogs was behaving erratically, so we avoided that area. Then we saw a Middle Eastern man who appeared unsteady and wobbly, being led by a large black dog with a red leash. It was clear the dog had more control than he did.
Suddenly, we heard a series of firetruck sirens. The dog broke free and ran into an entirely different area of the park where we were standing. The man gave a half-hearted chase, then just stood there and stared. I immediately yelled to the two people with me to move toward a gated area for safety, as the dog was approaching us. Thankfully, I had pepper spray on hand. The dog paused, barked loudly, then ran up to the gated baseball area closer to the street. Only then did the man finally pull full effort into running and retrieving the dog. It took about 30 seconds for him to come back with the dog on a leash.
This situation was completely unacceptable. No dog should be roaming off-leash in a public park, especially one with small children present. If there's a designated dog park in the back, dogs should be kept there or on a leash at all times. It’s not just about comfort—this is a serious safety concern. Rules need to be enforced, and there should be stricter limits on dog access...

Read moreWe leaned about this park in February 2024 and we are enjoying the water features in the summer! There is some shade in the playground area and the ground is very soft. There is a fence around most of it. I also noticed there is a dog park and a separate exercise area for those over 14. The machines use your own body weight and other force instead of traditional weight plates. There are restrooms, changing areas, water fountains , seating and plenty of parking. Our...
