I really like this park. It's fairly large, there are quite a few animals - including lots of deer! - and lots of different types of plants to see, ranging from forest to more open fields, with tons of hills and benches to sit on scattered throughout the park. The trails are some of the best marked I have seen in the GR area, and there are many paths to choose from. It was virtually empty when I went mid afternoon on a beautiful day My only criticism is that I believed there would be more areas closer to water, while the parts near running water appeared to be unreachable from the trails. There was one extremely meager stream that a path went over, but I laughed when I saw it was the stream marked on the map - it was barely a stream. That being said, there were almost no mosquitos when I went, so maybe that's a good thing. I think it would be a great place to do trail running and it is certainly a nice place to take a...
Read moreBeautiful. I love taking my 2yr old son for walks on all of their trails there. It's one of our favorite places. Just DO NOT forget some bug repellant. Mosquitos can be quite bothersome on on occassions we've discovered, as I didn't bring it one day and my son got violated by mosquito bites. I hadn't even realized how bad they were going after him until we got home and undressed to take bath after the walk and he had over 10 huge red bumps on him from mosquitos. They lasted over as week. So learn from my mistake and make sure to carry it just in case. That way you don't have to cut short a nice, peaceful, nature walk with your kiddos. The bugs are so worth it dealing with though if u have bug spray then you dont want to pass up these beautiful, quiet,...
Read moreThis is a truly peaceful park. Walk miles and miles of trails through varying landscapes of hills and Prairie. Wildlife abounds. A barred owl met my acquaintance the other day. There are two entrances to this park — one off Grand River Drive & one off of Bolt. It is serene and undisturbed by traffic noises. I don’t believe there are any restrooms, however. The trail is well-marked and has color-coded posts as you go along. Many dog walkers enjoy this park, and at times dogs are off-leash, but each one I’ve seen off leash is quite well behaved and...
