Abbey Nature Preserve — Attraction in Castle Hayne

Great short paths for a walk. Entrance/ exit to/from the bridge is a bit steep and no noticeable hand/safety rails were present. It is a nature trail and there are a bunch of roots on the trail so be careful. Trails are not wheelchair friendly. The dam is currently under construction but there is a walk around. All in all, great place for adults and kids.

Easy family hike. Everyone's favorite part was walking around the pond and seeing the turtles! The distance of your hike could be easily adjusted based on the trails you decide to take. One of my favorite little hidden gems to walk at right outside of City. The trails and scenery are beautiful. The pond is great to rest at and watch the turtles.
