I am extremely disappointed with the lifeguarding staff and overall management at this recreation center. When our group of four families (16 children in total) arrived to swim at 10 AM on a Tuesday, we were immediately told that our children could not splash in the lazy river because an aerobics class was taking place in the deep end of the pool. While we understood and instructed our children to be mindful, another lifeguard approached us, stating that we had to stay on one side of the lazy river to avoid getting the speaker—being used for the class—wet.
At that point, I respectfully mentioned that we had just paid full admission to use the facilities, and with the slides closed and the deep end occupied, the lazy river was one of the few areas available to our children. I assured her we would be careful not to splash but would still be utilizing the space. In response, the lifeguard informed me that they were not staffed adequately because they didn’t expect children during the day. I explained that we are homeschoolers, as are many other families in the area. She simply nodded and walked away.
The second major issue was the slides being closed. These are one of the pool’s biggest attractions for children, so we were naturally excited to use them. When we inquired about their opening time, we received conflicting answers: one lifeguard told us they didn’t have enough staff to operate them, while another stated they only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If that is the case, I find it unreasonable that the facility charges full price when key features are unavailable. Eventually, the slides did open, and we were grateful—until our children reported being treated rudely by the lifeguard at the top. Multiple kids noticed her repeatedly rolling her eyes, mouthing “OMG,” and acting visibly annoyed that they were using the slide frequently. She also refused to assist younger children into their tubes and prohibited older kids from helping them. On top of that, she pushed some children down the slide before they were fully seated, causing several to be improperly positioned while going down—something that could have resulted in injury. It is incredibly unprofessional for a lifeguard, whose job is to supervise and ensure safety, to behave in such a manner.
To make matters worse, just 30 minutes after opening, the slides were shut down again because a lifeguard had left.
Despite these challenges, our children remained respectful, followed the rules, and made the best of the situation. However, I am incredibly disappointed that we paid full price for a facility that was not fully operational for most of our visit. Worse, the lack of professionalism and dismissive treatment by the staff made the experience even more frustrating. Based on this visit, I am not...
Read moreThis morning I decided to take the kids swimming and a lot of our neighborhood pools require memberships and I didn't want to do that.
So, we had two choices and we chose to do the Aquatics in Castle Rock,
I called this morning inquiring about the prices, hours for open swim and the lady on the other end of the phone Nicole was rude, and I mean she's was a very rude woman, she acted like I was disturbing her day, frustrating her with my questions, had better things to do. etc
So, when we get there the lady that checked us in was very nice showed us where the locker rooms were and said that it was a family locker room. They have a nice lap pool, they are doing construction on the big slides and the hot tub and both were closed.
We were there about 4 hours.
We were getting our stuff out of our locker in locker room and I'm a grown adult with two kids. There were so many young males (meaning middle school/highschool students) walking with their parents/ families or by themselves and or changing in the private bathrooms or the private stalls in the family locker room and older men too without children.
Now mind you they have 3 Private bathrooms with shower, sink, toilet, a bench, and changing table and they also have 2 private changing stalls with benches and a locking door.
I even asked someone, if this was the male locker room and they said no.
But, if I was feeling awkward I'm pretty sure my kids did too.
We went upstairs and I mentioned this to the lady at the desk and she said she would talk to the coaches about it and another coworker chimed in and said it's "NOT A Family Locker Room" they are called "CABANA" so it's a free for all..
Seriously, how am I supposed to know this when I was told This afternoon when we arrived that it was a family locker room there are young girls walking in and out using the private restroom and private stalls to change.
This was our first time going and I'm pretty sure this is going to be our last. The bathrooms were disgusting, smelly and toilet paper was...
Read moreI drive about 30 minutes to go to the gym here, mostly because of the on-site child care. Without it, a gym membership would be useless to me. The rate for child care is very reasonable ($3 an hour as I write this) and the staff are always pleasant.
We also find the membership rates to be good as well, even as non-residents. The rates include use of the gym facilities, a wide variety of classes, a lap pool and a leisure pool. The gym meets expectations and while there are a lot of places it could improve, the value for the cost is great.
Two places that could use some improvement. It's often hard t find a place to do exercises on the floor, things like push-ups and crunches. The weight room (free weights) is also a bit on the small side. It has a good selection of equipment, but it is sometimes hard to find space for off equipment exercises like lunges and deadlifts.
These are not a big deal in my mind (hence the 4 star rating), just things to be aware of if you're checking it out. I recommend buying day passes or a punch card so you can try it out without a commitment first. As long as you don't expect a glamorous experience, I think you'll be happy. Who needs glamor anyway?...
