World's Largest Ball of Twine — Attraction in Cawker City

The ORIGINAL and World’s Largest ball of sisal twine! There are many duplicates and/or copycats out there but this is the original. Plus it’s in my hometown so I can’t help but be a huge fan. You can even roll twine on it yourself! Thousands of people have contributed to its girth and will continue annually. It’s definitely a sight to see. One that you need to get out and actually go up to and touch to fully grasp the enormity of this thing. On top of that, there are a multitude of different coffee shops/hobby shops within walking distance. It’s in Cawker City so really everything is within walking distance but they are literally across the street from the Ball. Cawker City Coffee and the Trading Post are delightful. Eyegore's Curiosities and Monster Museum is just to the East of the it and Waconda Lake is literally just a hop and skip away. If you’re traveling Highway 24 thru Cawker City, it’s a must stop. When I would tell people that I was driving across country and was going to stop at some roadside attractions, they would all say "like the worlds Largest Ball of Twine." So when I was coming back through Kansas and saw that there was a ball of twine to go see, I was thrilled. The drive from I70 to this giant ball was quite the trek. It was not close. Lots of middle of nowhere driving. But once I got the that big brown ball my heart filled with joy. Like somehow my life was a little more complete. I finally realized the meaning of my life. I sat down and called my dad, for the first time in years and told him that I forgive him and I love him. I took the appropriate amount of selfies and posted to my Instastories. I walked around the ball, both ways. I touched it, hopefully in the same way it touched me. I sign the guest book and after five minutes of mediation I got back in my car and drove the rest of the way home with a giant smile on my face...

On a whim 8/23/2021 I detoured my route and visited Cawker City Kansas and saw the Worlds Largest Ball of Twine! Geez Louise!! It was something to see.There it was! basically sat in the middle of town under a pavilion! (FYI: there is a beautifully restored antique gas station across the street that you can rent ,and spend a night in!) You can add twine to the ball if you desire…make sure you sign the visitors’ guest book in the mailbox and let the town know you visited…. someone in town added a cool touch to the exhibit by painting a looped (trail of twine) line from the ball that goes all over town on the sidewalks… cool touch!
