Crestone Ziggurat — Attraction in Center

Get lost on the labyrinth of roads until you find the parking area. Then take a short hike and walk up a sandy hill. There the ziggurat sits - marvel at it. Walk up the ziggurat's curly ramp. The view is very good, so bring some binoculars. And some water. At this elevation, you need to stay hydrated.

Also, bring a tennis ball. After admiring the vista, roll the ball down the spiral ramp and follow it down. Play Skee-Ball by pitching the ball underhanded, up the ramp. Make some lame jokes about anyone having a spare ziggurat while hiking back down to the car.

The peace was perfect for meditation. The views from the top are beautiful 😍. Bring a pet for the company, take a slow, thoughtful walk, and enjoy the journey. Google Maps will get you there. A small parking area and a path on the left side of the parking lot will lead you up. I found the path on the way down after a strenuous climb uphill. 😆 Check out the stupa a short walk away, with no path from the ziggurat. Bring a token to leave behind with your blessings. Quiet, short walk. Neat views. We followed Google map directions until we saw a sign that said the land was private from this point on at the last turn. Then we ran into someone leaving and he said to continue following the directions as there is designated parking just a little further in. We came to what looked like a former parking area, signs said not to stop there, kept going through a little wash and found the current signed parking. Walk was short and easy on an old dune.
