Great wine selection and beautiful location setting normally a great stop that we make a point to visit when ever in the area. We had a negative experience this time surrounding the treatment we witnessed of a younger couple enjoying several selections at the restricted space tasting area. The room manager announced across the room to the couple that they should more or drink up and leave soon. The young couple was astonished as were we in my party. Sure enough things escalated and I watched her continue to push on them. It must have been somewhat humiliating for the young couple being forced to gulp down their flight. She then turned to my group and continued with a pushy and unappreciative demeanor. It got to a point that I had to ask her to back off of us as we were paying customers. It is stressful enough for all of us during these times and don't need this when we try are on weekends to try and rejuvenate. FYI... didn't get this at Good Harbor Vineyards. They took a safe but very different approach to handling distancing and making customers feel welcome. Sorry Bel Lago maybe we'll try again in...
Read moreMy partner and I came here in the winter of 2022..and we loved it. The guy manning the bar was friendly, warm, and shared insights on the wine flavors as well as the area. Also the wine was delicious!! We even shipped their wine to us in another part of the state after that.
Today we went back...and first off..there are no more chairs!! No chairs at the bar when there used to be many, no chairs at the one other table in there...it was very awkward. Also the lady serving us didn't give any wine insights...just sat there awkwardly watching us decide for minutes...then her demeanor changed towards us when we decided on sharing a wine flight. She then asked us to move to the corner as soon as we got it. The wines tasted overly sharp and acidic..like they are heavily intervened. I'm shocked its gone down hill so much since 2022. We tried 8 wineries this weekend and they came in last in both taste and service. Please think twice before spending your hard...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Bel Lago winery and this winery is becoming one of my favorites in northern Michigan. From the moment we walked in, it was a great visit from the wine and food to the ambiance and the customer service. Marianne greeted us and actually remembered us from our prior visit. She was super helpful in walking us through the menu and providing recommendations. In addition to our wine, which pleased a variety of wine drinkers (including the wine slushy), the pizza was SO GOOD! We ate a Detroit style pizza that was easily shared amongst 3 people. I’m looking forward to a return visit to try the GF pizzas, gigantic pretzels, and other shareables on the menu. We sat outside for the afternoon on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful views of the water and music. I highly recommend this place, they provide an axcellent...
