I recently came up for a bachelorette party weekend and my group was treated very poorly by some of the staff. I had never been to this winery before and figured we'd check it out. The wines honestly were not that great, nothing too special about them but we only tried a handful. I do admit our group was a bit rowdy as that was the fourth winery we'd been to that day. But one employee who was serving us was obviously not excited let alone interested to be helping us and someone called the next location we were going to and we were not served. There were a handful of us who were not drunk and a few that had hardly had any alcohol that day as they were wanting to try the drinks at the next location. When we got to the next location we were met at the door and refused to be served and were told that someone from Chateau Fontaine called ahead and said we were too drunk. Personally if the staff at the winery felt that way they shouldn't have been trying to get a few of us to try more wine and buy glasses if it at their winery after we did our free tasting. I do not recommend this winery not only for their sub par wines but their rude and...

My husband and I spent a weekend wine tasting in northwest Michigan this past weekend, and of all the wineries we went to, Chateau Fontaine was, by far, the best of the bunch. We enjoyed almost all of the wines that we tasted (and you get to taste all of the wines they have free of charge). The bartenders (?) were very knowledgeable about all of the wines and the crop, and were very nice. They were a little bit arrogant, but we decided that they really do have the best wine in the area and are therefore at liberty to be a little bit pompous. They have a nice patio where you can enjoy a glass of wine and look out over the vineyard. Our favorite was their pinot noir, but they were really all fantastic. We HIGHLY recommend visiting...

An overall fantastic experience! I would definitely recommend stopping by and visiting. Shannon was an amazing host. She was fun and made the tasting a wonderful time. All of the wines were of quality and good taste. We also had some cheese and crackers, and later a chocolate to compliment the wines we were tasting. This was all done free of charge !

We were enjoying ourselves so much we stayed a little bit longer and purchased a bottle of wine to enjoy while we sat and enjoyed the place. I ended up purchasing another bottle of wine and the cheese ball flavoring. I probably should of purchased more but I didn't want to go overboard in case I came across something better. Now I realize I should of went ahead and bought...

Easily one of the top 3 wineries in the area when it comes to quality of wine price and variety. Chris was very knowledgeable of all the wines and truly has a passion for this vineyard. Every wine I tried was great, and I tried all 12. I liked the samples so much I purchased a case with one of each... I remember from 5 years ago I had the same experience. The atmosphere here is very homey sort of lake cottage. Not extravagant in views or activities this place focuses on great wine and it shows on the pallet. If you like any type of wine you will not walk out of here empty handed...

We've been here once or twice a year for about 10 years. And until this visit it was always one of our favorites. It's NOT just the money (it was always a free tasting and now it's $2 a shot) it was the "experience" that was missing. Everyone had to be outside, the bathroom is now a porta-poddy, there were no family stories about the wine, no laughs and banter while being led through the menu, and the service was aggravating SLOW (took us 90 minutes to get our four tastings). All the fun wine swag is gone inside . So we went home without a box of wine and might never go back.

Absolutely beautiful! I’ve been coming here for over 5 years, even before I could drink (watching my sisters and mom taste). A lot of winery’s are doing flights of wine for $10-$15, Chateau Fontaine has stuck with the free tasting of all of their wines and talking to you about how they’re made and what they pair well with, and that’s what we LOVE!! We always end up buying bottles because we get to taste everything and it gives off a very personable feel!
