My husband and I tried to get a glass of wine at french valley today. It wasn't very busy when we arrived and we picked chairs away from everyone else to maintain social distancing. After 15 minutes without anyone coming over I found the waitress and asked if I could order wine. She asked where we were sitting and i pointed to our chairs and she said she'd be right over. 30 minutes later and still no wine we packed up to leave. As we were leaving she came over and said that we were sitting in the hotel side and that's why we hadn't been served. We looked around, there was no sign to indicate this, the chairs were identical, and I had pointed to where we were sitting earlier and she said nothing. This ruined our entire saturday, 45 minutes of being completely ignored and the waitress had no apologizes. Unfortunately we are locals and frequent many wineries in the county. We will not be coming back and won't be recommending this establishment to...
Read moreWe were the only visitors in the winery. We waited awhile for the gal to come out of the back room to acknowledge that anyone was there...not a big deal. She had us follow her to an outside tasting bar after letting the door slam in my husbands face. So I am thinking that we were quite an inconvenience to her based on her general attitude. The outside bar was very cold as the outdoor temp was 62 degrees with a wind making it feel considerably cooler. The inside bar was empty and warmer. The wine tasting was minimal at best. She never explained the wines nor made any attempt to converse with us at all! After tasting at many of the other wineries in the area, I felt very turned off by the whole experience and will probably not return with my wine tasting friends at any time in the future. Maybe it was just the attitude of the red headed gal waiting on us but she spoiled it for our...
Read moreThis is my FAVORITE winery in the TC area. In my experience, most wineries make about 10-15 wines, and a few of them are fantastic, but French Vinyard knocks it out of the park with ALL of them. Their reds are rich and complex, the whites are balanced and delicious. They even just started doing a sparkling pinot noir that I cannot wait to make cocktails with! The pours might be a little small, the bottles a little more than you see at some other wineries, but I promise, this place is worth every penny!
Plus the ambiance and the view is to die for! I feel like a lot of people don't know about this winery because this tasting room has only been around for a few years but you should definitely make this a stop on your next winery trip!
P.S. This Cab Franc/Merlot is out...
