I've tried to make it here as often as possible since my wife introduced me to this area in 1998. Good Harbor Bay Beach is a nice and usually peaceful. If there happens to be a warm sunny day that brings out family & friends to the beach, no need to worry about overcrowding. The beach is very long, giving plenty room for a little privacy. If you enjoy strolling along the water's edge in search of petoskey stones or just for exercise, Good Harbor Bay Beach is a good place to do so. Before visiting the beach this past week it had been 7 years since my last visit. I did notice something different about the beach; the beach appears to have narrowed. Either the native grass is growing relatively quickly and taking over some of the beach(which helps prevent beach erosion), or Lake Michigan water levels has increased. If I were to guess it would be the latter. However, either one is good. That all being said, Good Harbor Bay Beach is beautiful and the sunsets are spectacular as it sets between the distant...
Read moreBeautiful clear water at this beach. Took review suggestions and arrived before noon for decent parking spot. Per signs half of the beach is dog friendly. One lady walked her dog on the "no dog" side. Probably not aware of rules. A young park ranger brought the rule to her attention. Not mean about it all. Two things keep this beach from being a 5 star. 1) Not enough bathroom facilities. A line can form at the bathroom which can lead to some foot hopping if you're in a hurry. 2) There were small pieces of burnt wood all over the beach from previous fires. Unsightly. We left mid-afternoon but I can imagine this beach has really...
Read moreThis sandy little beach is like a hidden gem I feel. There isn't a sign on the main road (that I noticed) advertising the beach is at end of this nicely paved "seasonal road." If you are unfamiliar with the area, you wouldn't think a beautiful beach would be at the end of it. Turn down that seasonal road anyways, you won't be disappointed!
There is a nice size parking lot at the end. A well kept bathroom (outhouse) for your convenience is there as well. In order to get to the water, you have to walk a short ways (not much) through some beach grasses before you'll arrive at the beautiful Good...
