This was the best campground I have ever been to, hot showers and actual plumbing were fantastic. The camp host (I think his name was Bill) was great and went the extra mile to ensure we had camp firewood after a long 8 hour drive from Boise to the campsite.
I must mention that Duane, the camp cleanup person had the toughest job of anyone I have ever met, and he was delighted when I thanked him for cleaning up after all the people who mistreated the bathrooms. I have never been more embarrassed by the lack of respect for the showers (puke, people leaving soap boxes, and other garbage in the showers), paper towels wet and thrown on walls and ceilings, and toilet paper all of the place. Who are these people that would treat these spaces of cleanliness with such disrespect. I mentioned this to Duane and called these people “animals”. Duane seemed like this is very common and well he had a job to do. I can’t thank you enough Duane, because of you, I am inspired to take the same attitude of no matter what just keeping things pristine after so much blatant misuse, so I chipped in and did what I could to lighten his workload by cleaning up tp and paper towels when I could during our 4 day stay at Joseph Stewart State Rec Area.
Please let me mention that Duane deserves an award for his tireless efforts and positive attitude for doing an outstanding job to maintain this parks cleanliness. My hat is off to You Sir.
Thank You Duane for what You Do!
Sincerely & Respectfully, Ander...
Read moreThis is an absolutely beautiful campground. I would give it 4.5 stars if that was an option. The sites are widely spaced, most of them are shaded, and all but a few are pretty level Nd all are paved. The campground was quiet with no late night rowdy crowd. The sites had water and electricity, but no sewer or cable. There is a dump station on site. There are about 6 miles of bike trails within the camp, but half of it is pretty hilly. There is no access to Lost Creek Lake from within the campground. You need to go back out to the main road and go into the marina / day use area. The day we were there it was too choppy on the lake for kayaking, so we drove up to Crater Lake for the day. Cell service is pretty spotty. We had Verizon and only had enough extended service to send texts but not make calls or access maps or the internet. Our friends who had ATT had much better service. If you want a campground with lots of trees and open spaces and a chance to unwind, this would be a good choice. We did not use the restrooms, as we had a self-contained RV, but they were open despite...
Read moreHad a bad experience. (All dogs were on leashes) but Our family dog (a bishon frise, no bigger than 15 lbs) was attacked by another dog. (Pitbull that was well over 30 lbs)And when the owner of the other dog tried to stop her dog from attacking our dog her dog bit and messed up her hand in the process as well as leaving our dog bloody and limping. The other dog had not even a scratch. the park rangers or whoever they were told US we had to leave because the family of the other dog was "uncomftable" with us being there. They got to stay even tho their dog attacked our dog and their own kid. We were already leaving to take our dog to the vet and in the middle of packing up everything told us we had one hour to leave.. The park itself was amazing. Lots of room for tents especially with alot of ppl, close to the lake and had lots to do but would not go back just becasue of the rangers and the way they...
