The wife and I don't get to spend a bunch of time together anymore. She is doing travel nursing and I have been traveling for sales. So we figured out that within a short drive of one another we could rendezvous in champaign. We booked a stay a ihotel. Before booking we were asking for some very specific amenities including 2 beds and a 2 person shower or walkin shower large enough for us both to get ready simultaneously in the morning. Ihotel had a room to accommodate. I was going to enhance our stay with the bouquet of flowers and had asked concierge to pick the petals off and scatter them on the bed, but they denied my request with fear the real pedals would stain the bed spread. Then offered a cheaper solution of using fake petals. My wife usually is cold so I asked them to also set the thermostat to 76 which is my wifes comfort temperature. I also asked for extra pillows. When I arrived i noticed the hotel had a modern contemporary vibe. After i checked in to the hotel, i noticed not only was the hotel room clean clean but the thermostat had been set to 76 and the room was at the desired temp. There was also extra pillows and towels in the room. They did a fantastic job with the petals and not only did they scatter them on the bed but they arranged them in a heart which was over the top and just about made my wife cry. The stay was lovely beds were comfy. My wife forgot some of her necessities from her hotel and when called to the front desk they had comparable products and brought up directly. Staff is super attentive, smiling and very positive. We tried ordering the roku for $15 and Ashley ran one up to the room. It didn't seem to work so she brought up another and tried it herself and that one didn't seem to work either. The 2nd time up she also brought an apple TV device which worked fine and we kept. One of my complaints about this hotel is they should have comped the TV device for the trouble with the previous 2 but that was the least of my concerns. I was also a little taken back that the room I booked had robes you can use, amazon Alexa, walk in shower, nice office area with 24/7 access to the work area downstairs but there is no mini fridge in the room to keep drinks cold. Overall fantastic stay, I wish other hotels would take lessons from...
Read moreWe had an unfortunate incident occur on our drive north back to Wisconsin on our way to this hotel. It added at least three hours to our travel time and caused us to arrive at 2 AM. I called the hotel ahead of time to let them know that we were going to have a late arrival and asked if there would be someone there. They were very polite and told us not to worry, they will have a room for us and there is somebody at the desk 24 hours. We rolled in extremely tired. When my husband went to the desk, they were so apologetic. We had ordered a deluxe king room through Expedia. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but they must not have had any more king rooms, or any rooms available for that matter. However, they gave us the suite portion of a king suite that wasn’t being used, which only had a pullout sofa for a bed. They were very polite and very apologetic and offered to comp the room. We were tired and exhausted and still had another day of travel ahead of us to get home, so we were just happy to have a place to stay.||I had to mark off one star for the fact that we slept on a rickety sofa bed, however, I believe it probably wasn’t the hotel’s fault. They were very accommodating, professional, yet personable. So had this not occurred, I would’ve given them a five star review. I feel bad knocking off a star. ||Our little adjoining suite portion, was very clean. The pedestal bathroom sink was sufficient, considering that it was really intended for handwashing rather than overnight staying. The shower was nice. The room would’ve been great as a suite portion connected to a king suite. It was decorated nicely. It had a beverage refrigerator stocked with water. The pull out bed was not so comfortable, but I was able to sleep. We have begun to laugh about the experience now, after all we went through that night.||The continental breakfast was held in the attached Houlihan’s restaurant. They had hot oatmeal and nice yogurt options. There were wonderful tiny mini little cinnamon rolls. They also had egg sandwich wraps, fruit, juice, etc. ||The lobby was huge and spacious. There was original artwork on the walls. There was a refrigerator that was stocked with complementary water bottles. I wouldn’t mind staying there again if I could get a...

I originally booked with Houlihan’s for my mom’s surprise birthday for them to cancel on me within two weeks after invites were sent out, claiming they didn’t have enough staff. I also booked a room, which they insisted was $230 (higher than normal due to an event).
To keep the same location, I booked the Technology room to host the party, the event coordinators never sent pictures of what the room looked like so on my way home to visit my parents (I’m from Chicago) I decided to stop by to see these rooms in person. Coordinators should have emailed me pictures
I immediately needed to upgrade to the Lincoln or Alma Mater room due to size.
Week 3 I found rooms at the I Hotel were $115 through Expedia, and I•hotel refused to price match that so I had to book through third party… despite knowing we booked a party and catering.
The day of check in, they made us pay an additional $100 non-refundable clean up fee for my pet to stay although I brought supporting documentation from my physician stating that he was allowed with me at all times. I am not even responsible for pet rent through my current lease.
This also goes for service dogs 🐕🦺
Fast forward to the day of the party. There was a church service prior to our 2pm event. The coordinator told me to come in and start decorating at noon. I didn’t know that I was going to be responsible for moving 20 tables and chairs from the previous event. The event coordinator finally came in and brought people to bring in round banquette tables where I could finally decorate.
The room came together nicely and every one showed up.
We started releasing tables to eat at 2:30, and the banquette staff took our food at 3:15. Most of us didn’t even get to eat…. $750 worth of food. The banquette staff said due to health reasons they are not supposed to leave food out, so she brought me 5 plates of food from from (another party) after our food was thrown away with no given announcement. They also charged a cake cutting fee. And I cut the entire cake.
I’m purely disappointed ☹️
The two stars is for...
