❤️A Soaring Experience at the Udvar-Hazy Center❤️ My recent visit to the Udvar-Hazy Center was nothing short of spectacular. As an extension of the National Air and Space Museum, it houses a breathtaking collection of aviation and space artifacts, showcasing the incredible journey of human flight and space exploration. The museum's spacious hangars are filled with legendary aircraft and spacecraft, including the Space Shuttle Discovery, the SR-71 Blackbird, and the Enola Gay, allowing visitors to get up close to these historic marvels. What sets the Udvar-Hazy Center apart is not just the scale of its collection but the way it's presented.
The vast, airy space of the hangars gives these aviation giants room to breathe, inviting awe and admiration from all who walk beneath their wings. It's a place where history hangs in the air, tangible and alive. The museum is a treasure trove for enthusiasts and a fascinating discovery ground for newcomers to aviation and space history.
Each exhibit is thoughtfully curated, providing rich details about the artifacts' histories, technologies, and the people behind them. The learning opportunities are immense, making it an educational experience for visitors of all ages.
One of my favorite features is the observation tower, offering a panoramic view of Dulles International Airport. Watching planes take off and land adds a dynamic layer to the museum experience, connecting the history inside with the ongoing story of aviation happening right outside its walls. The Udvar-Hazy Center is more than just a museum; it's a celebration of human ingenuity and the spirit of exploration.
Its educational programs and IMAX theater screenings are a bonus, enriching the visitor experience with knowledge and entertainment. In conclusion, the Udvar-Hazy Center is a must-visit for anyone interested in aviation and space. Its impressive collection, combined with an engaging presentation, makes it a memorable destination.

Read moreWe were delighted to visit the Udver-Hazy Air and Space Museum today. Our aviation history displayed in grand fashion, don't miss it if you are in the DC area! Here are things to remember The museum is free. Parking is not, current fee $15.00 IMAX is pay per show. Look in advance to check what is running. There is a tour desk, tours are free and if you have a group, schedule in advance. If you have a stroller or a wheelchair there are 2 elevators and also a ramp. Great attraction, great crowds. Keep that in mind. We were there thru lunch..the restaurant is large and draws quite the crowd. We waited about 10 minutes at the door but we're greeted by a friendly attendant and told after we ordered we would be waiting about 5 min for our food (true) Food choices were ok, not much more expensive than a normal fast food joint. Overall a positive experience! Kids were loving it and even teenagers...
Read moreIt's not so much the gift shop that I like about this museum, but rather its impressive silent inhabitants. It always feels special to greet Enola Gay, as part of an inner pilgrimage for Peace.
This time around, it allowed me to learn a bit more about the crew that flew the B-29 Superfortress that day (August 6, 1945) over Hiroshima.
The last surviving crew member, Theodore Van Kirk, passed away on July 28, 2014.
May he and his companions rest in Peace.
Regardless of what one thinks about this destructive expedition, it is important to feel it with one's heart.
Here, we find ourselves way beyond the limited confines of right and wrong, as Rumi would say.
A field where there is no answers - only love. A field of pure love.
Please enjoy the journey, both with your eyes and in your heart.
I will post a photo of Enola Gay taken from the...
