Great park for hiking as the trails are mostly in the woods. You can get a little bit of a cardio workout since you will be going up and down some inclines as there are many natural ravines throughout the woods. The hemlocks trail is one of my favorites. I recommend doing that trail in a clockwise direction so you go down the steep sets of steps rather than climbing up them. The wildflowers trail also has some steps, and while those don't have any handrails they aren't very steep and look like they have recently been redone so they are in good condition. Overall, the trails were in good condition although you have to watch out for tree roots.

The park has some nice rental facilities including the Deep Woods Lodge which is located at the edge of the woods next to a parking lot and looked really beautiful and modern. There are also a couple lean-to areas for camping and one really nice modern cabin that is sort of a treehouse design. The park also has some bike trails and a couple ponds. The Meyer Center building has paper trail maps available which can be helpful as many of the trails are connected to each other and can be a little confusing.

If you are headed to the park from Clark Road, just be aware that the first half mile or so of Robinson Road is in pretty rough shape and you will need to go slowly and dodge a lot of chuck holes, but the road then becomes very smooth to the...

My husband and I come to this park all the time for walks or to sit and eat lunch. It's a beautiful place to enjoy a walk in nature there's lots of birds and Chipmunks around. Please be advised if you are allergic or afraid of bees, there are always ground hornets hanging around the bathroom facility. Usually the men's side is safer than the women's... Parents this is a good park to take your children to get them outside, the trails are easy even for toddlers and there is also a playground. The trails are pretty shady as well so you don't have to worry too...

Our family has been coming to Big Creek for over 40 years and have never had a bad experience! Every picnic area is always ready, the rest rooms are always clean. The trails are great and offer a variety of difficulty from families with small children to families with older kids to empty nesters just out for a stroll. A great...

Definitely loved this remote site E "treehouse" its a short hike in, MUST bring a wagon to bring gear in or have firewood bundled, or backpack. The metropark itself is small and has a few very short trails, but the day trips from the treehouse are numerous if you want to get some miles on the boots.

Very peaceful. Has a vast number of activities available to see the great out doors. Fishing, bird watching, camping, volleyball, hiking, picnicing, playing, walking, and so much more. Free parking! And multiple shelters to eat at.
