Red Haw State Park — Attraction in Chariton

I tried to find rules but couldn't as I was looking for rules regarding pets. There needs to be a rule all pets must be on a leash, if there isn't already one & if there is, it needs to be enforced. There are several dogs not on a leash & it's caused a few problems with other dogs who are on leash & being walked or the off leash wander to other sites. Also, I love seeing all the children riding bicycles & having fun but parents need to teach them that when a unit is stopped on the road, chances are they are going to be backing up & children should stop & wait, or turn back around if they don't want to wait but never rush along side figuring they'll get past before they actually start backing up. I've seen several come close to being hit but thankfully none have. Teach a little safety so kids can enjoy the outdoors, they're young & not always alert, but itsi not always easy for drivers to see them when backing up. This is a great park with lots of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, get some R&R, great family time making memories & more. Be safe everyone...

Our family recently visited the park for a family hike around the lake. The entire hiking loop is about 4 miles and the paths were well maintained. The terrain is mostly flat and does not make for a difficult hike.

The fall colors here would be fantastic, and I think our family is planning to come back during the fall months to experience the fall beauty here.

The park has campgrounds, swimming beach, boat ramps, and special kayak launching ramps. I can't not attest to the quality of these facilities, but the campgrounds were full and there were plenty of visitors at the beach. We would like to try kayaking at this park sometime as well.

Park ranger showed up at our site and lectured at us at 830pm for kids riding bikes , our kids were at the campsite , also was lecturing about quiet time ? I thought that was at 10pm also we were quiet. Everytime we go there this lady with the hateful attitude harasses us. One time she started screaming at my daughter who was watching the birds about some kids that were swimming in the lake , my daughter explained to her she had no idea who they were . The lady started accusing her of lying . People like her are the reason why i wont waste my money...
