Stephens State Forest is not a “park”. It is a very large forest for people who want a more rugged experience than is found in a typical state park. The Whitebreast Unit has many miles of trails for horseback riding and mountain biking as well as hiking. Mountain biking is possible, but be prepared for some sections to be difficult. Non modern campgrounds are located on 127th Trail and 137th Trail. Note: hunting is allowed in the forest, so wear bright colors. I wear a reflective lime green vest.

Muddy with deep ruts where horse hooves dug in. There are other obstacles and ticks and made for an unexpected adventure instead of walk. 5/5
