Best eco boat tour ever! We took the Morris Island eco tour with Tripp as our guide. We went on a weekday in October and actually had the boat to ourselves. Tripp was so knowledgeable about the salt marsh ecosystem and he taught us about estuaries as well. We learned so much about dolphins that we never knew as well as the trees, grasses, and all kinds of other wildlife in the area. We enjoyed getting up close to the grasses and oyster beds and learning about how their filtration is vital to the ecosystem. We even learned about the locals and how they work these waters too. We saw so many dolphins, birds, and even a baby shark, which rarely happens. You can really tell this company and their guides truly love and respect the area and all it's inhabitants. Morris Island was truly beautiful, and arriving at low tide for the shelling was just an added bonus! Tripp told us where to look for shark teeth and shells and didn't mind at all to snap a quick picture of our family before we started on our journey to explore the island. We found so many whelks, sand dollars, and so much more in the time we had. We were so excited to show our treasures to our guide, and he was excited for us and so nice to tell us what some of them were. This was a milestone moment for our family as it was our first trip after I finished chemotherapy 3 months ago. Between the boat ride, our guide, beautiful Morris Island, and our time spent together collecting treasures, this day was absolutely wonderful. Thank you, COA, for making our day so special and helping our family create...
Read moreI had the best time ever fossil hunting! Booked time slot & paid online, easy pesy. Was able to book the night before luckily. They had 29 spots..I was 28th..lol ( New Years Eve) Highly recommend these guys for a great experience. Very informative. Answers any questions you have about fossils & what there is to find on the island. Gave us a nice handout to help ID what we find. Good variety of teeth, fossils and possible artifacts from the past to look for on the island. The ride over was maybe 20min. Dropped off with our guide(Cade, Charleston Marshman) Awesome guide by the way! Who walked with us & gave us the "eye" to help identify & learn to locate the teeth. After 4hrs we returned with our goodies to be picked up and our Captain encouraged us to look for wildlife. Which we got to see several Dolphin! That was a plus and so cute! Tip-Dress for the weather & be prepared to walk a few miles along the shore/ beach. I brought a cooler bookbag with a few waters, a light snack & my handy dandy fanny pack to put my finds in. Just wearTennis shoes you don't mind getting wet/ dirty. There are no bathrooms on the island but there is one located on their property before you get on the boat. They ask you to arrive 20/30 min. early to check-in & sign your waivers if you haven't already signed by the email they send you. I tell ya this Alabamian will definitely be back to do another trip! Thank you guys so much for the...
Read moreI had the best day fossil hunting in Charleston with Charleston Outdoor Adventures! As someone who loves unique outdoor activities, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a fossil hunting tour, but this experience exceeded all my expectations.
From the moment we left the dock, we were surrounded by dolphins, and Captain Joe was incredible—teaching us about these amazing marine animals and answering all my questions. The boat ride alone made this an unforgettable Charleston boat tour, but the real magic happened once we reached our fossil-hunting destination.
Our guide, Cade, had an unbelievable eye for spotting shark teeth, megalodon teeth, and fossils—more than I ever imagined could be in one place! He was incredibly knowledgeable, identifying the age and species of shark teeth at a glance and teaching us what to look for. Thanks to his tips, I started finding tons of shark teeth on my own! It really made me realize how many fossils I must have walked past before without noticing.
