My cabin experience here was amazing! Only 45 per night, check in at 3pm and check out at 1pm. Bobwhite is right next to a little fishing pond and shaded by a beautiful forest. You can see the small pond from the cabin. Great fire pit with a lowerable grate and open underneath to hide wood from the rain. One big bed and 4 bunk beds in a tiny but cozy cabin. We had no neighbors but it can get loud if the other cabin is rented, fyi. You can basically hear everything from the other cabin. The shower house was incredible!!! Clean, accessible showers with hot hot water. Cleanest bath house I have ever used at a state park. Firewood bundles 5 bucks and they have a good amount, like 10 to 15 logs of various sizes. Note : NO BATHROOM IN THE CABIN 😬 the shower house is the closest bathroom.
So much to do around here - fishing, hiking, habitat restorations, hunting, canoes kayaks and other small boats. Lots of frogs, turtles, small mammals, and water birds, plenty of fish jumping out of the water. An incredible canoe launch and river and lake areas to canoe at. Super close to other parks and conservation areas as well, like lake charleston. And its only 10 to 15 min to a walmart and an aldis. What more...
Read moreI've visited a lot of nice Illinois state parks and campgrounds within my 41 years and by far Fox Ridge State Park beats all. Honestly, they offer a fenominal campground with the cleanest shower house I've ever seen.. Not only do they have hot showers but also you don't half to keep pressing the button to keep the shower head running. The nicest campground host offering awesome hospitality. Nice remote and secluded campground units with plenty of space in-between units as well. The park offers a ton of sight seeing hiking trails and a beautiful River along the back of the park as well. My wife and I are definitely coming back to visit. This park is definitely an asset to Illinois and if you get a chance stop and visit Fox Ridge and give it a shot.. I garrantee you that you will be wanting to visit...
Read moreGreat place for a weekend camping trip, or longer. The front loop of the camping sites have to be reserved. The back loop of sites are first come. There's electric but no water. There is a cooking pit and picnic table outside on site if you would like to grill out. There are outside pumps for drinking water available, but not on all site, still close tho. I think there's a dump site, but not positive. Pets allowed but have to be kept on a leash. They have 2 or 3 cabins that can be rented, as well. There's a nice pond one can fish or walk around/play with their pets. The pond also has ducks and geese that stop in. Nice place for a staycation if you're local or a great getaway. The forest is beautiful with hiking trails that are great to use. Give it a try. I think...
