Lake Charleston — Attraction in Charleston

Out on the trail going around the lake is beautiful. I do not recommend for little ones because the trail has some places that are very dangerous to little ones if you're not carrying them or watching them closely. Sometimes the trail has little room for making a mistake. Responsible older children can do it. It takes about 2 hours to finish. One of my absolutely favorite parks! It offers views of the spillway as you enter and the walk to the lake itself is short and paved. Nature trails are also available along the lake. Multiple boat ramps and docks are offered in this beautiful park which not only allows kayaks, but has some available as rentals. This trail around the lake is very lush and extensive. I've never managed to make it all the way around, but I did reach the halfway point before it got too dark. Many people fish and boat here, though swimming is not allowed. You can spot herons, and currently, in the spring and summer of 2024, the area is swarming with cicadas.
