Vin Gormley was a very interesting trail lots of sights and it was gentle too a good day hike for a motivated hiker. Ive done the whole 8 mile hike around the pond if anyone wants to train for the apalacian trails this is a great place to start load your pack up and make some practice hikes this 8 mile path is easy compared to the incline on those trails but it makes a great beginers intro for training. This was also one of the prettyest hikes i have done around here there are many hikes here but i suppose the 8 mile pushes the opportunity to see the beauty..... dont get lost between the trails when they meet the roads its easy to think a trail is right in front across the road and its actuly to the left 100 ft also the last part of the trail that goes around the kids camp does not go around the lake you must walk on the road to return and it may seem strange but that is how the full circle is done. Increadible hike...
Read moreAwesome trail, but pretty long, so be prepared. We were camping at Burlingame campground, and my son and i decided to hike this at 6:30 in the morning after checking out the map at the campground. From what we understood it would take an hour and 40 minutes. BOY WE WERE WRONG! 2 hours and 3 miles in we realized we were in for a long haul lol. Wearing dollar store flip flops and no water, we stopped a biker on the trail to try and figure out how long it was gonna take. Shout out to the stranger we've named Mike lol for letting us use his phone to check in with our family, and offering us some water, Thank you for not being a weirdo lol. In the end it was a great adventure! Barefoot,7miles and 4 hours later and a great story to tell and yes you Mike will forever be part of it, was...
Read moreI tried my hand at this trail for the first time today. I parked at the trail head on Kings Factory Road, because I wasn't able to find Sanctuary Road. A guy working at a nearby campsite actually helped me out with directions to the trail head. Anyhoo, I followed the yellow and blue markings for 45 minutes. I brought my back pack with water and some painted rocks that I hid along where I walked, and because I didn't have a map with me, I back tracked to my car. Overall it was an hour and a half hike, but I did nothing close to looping the whole trail. A very pretty hike, but I would definitely go back with a map...if I...
